Contemporary Military Romance
From the war-torn streets of Baghdad to the bittersweet comforts of the home front, two wounded hearts navigate the battlefield of coming home from war in this explosive eBook original from newcomer Jessica Scott.

Keeping his men alive is all that matters to Sergeant First Class Shane Garrison. But meeting Jen St. James the night before his latest deployment makes Shane wonder if there’s more to life than war. He leaves for Iraq remembering a single kiss with a woman he’ll never see again—until a near fatal attack lands him back at home and in her care.

Jen has survived her own brush with death and endured its scars. And yet there’s a fire in Shane that makes Jen forget all about her past. He may be her patient, but when this warrior looks her in the eyes, she feels—for the first time in a long time—like a woman. Shane is too proud to ask for help, but for Jen, caring for him is more than a duty—it’s a need. And as Jen guides Shane through the fires of healing, she finds something she never expected—her deepest desire.

My Review...

This was my first journey into the Contemporary Military Romance Genre and I was pleasantly surprised.  I can not even imagine what the damage of being in war can do to a person. The demons and pressure that Shane has on him is heart breakingly heavy. And Jen being a cancer survivor with not a lot of support.

They both believe that they do not need each other but in reality that is the opposite of the truth. The only way they can heal and move on is to be together.  I really liked this book and all it's characters especially Carponti. Even though he suffered a loss his humor and how he deals with things is inspiring.

The journey for Shane is a tough one but so worth it for them.  My fingers are crossed that book three is going to be about Laura & Trent because I was heartbroken with that break up.

Adult Romance

From the author of Because of You comes an all-new contemporary eBook romance. Though he plays by the rules, she’s not afraid to break them. Now these two strong-willed military leaders will prove that opposites attract . . . even under fire.

A by-the-book captain with a West Point background, Evan Loehr refuses to mix business with pleasure—except for an unguarded instance years ago when he succumbed to the deep sensuality of redheaded beauty Claire Montoya. Since that brief lapse in judgment, Evan has been at odds with her. But when he is asked to train a combat team alongside Claire, battle-hardened Evan is in for the fight of his life.

Strong, gutsy, and loyal, Captain Claire Montoya has worked hard to achieve her high military rank. In Evan Loehr, Claire sees a spoiled commander who puts the rules before everything else—including his people. Army orders force them together and Claire soon discovers that there is more to Evan than meets the eye. He too has dark secrets and deep longings. For all their differences, Evan and Claire share two crucial passions: their country and each other.

My Review...

So since I loved Because of you I was so excited to be given the opportunity to read Until There was you.  I liked the characters of Claire and Evan but they did not grab me as much as Shane and Jen did in Because of You.

Again the demons that are left from war just seems so heavy and paralyzing. For both people in a relationship to have demons from life and war can be quite a challenge.  Even though they have a huge Mountain to climb to be able to find and need each other they do it. And it was so worth it for them in the end.

I think this genre of contemporary military romance is a good genre so even though it is fiction I think it gives us a little taste of the effects of war. I have the outmost respect for all the women and men who fight on our behalves.

3 thumbs up! thumbs upthumbs upthumbs up
