Last Mile (Vicious Cycle #3)

by
Katie Ashley, the New York Times bestselling author of Redemption Road and Vicious Cycle, returns to the dangerous and seductive world of the Hells Raiders motorcycle club…

After her father was murdered in the line of duty, ATF agent Samantha Vargas is determined to take down the scumbags of the drug trade. When her partner takes on a case to infiltrate the Hells Raiders MC, Samantha agrees to go undercover as his old lady but is surprised to find herself drawn to the very man she is investigating.

Benjamin “Bishop” Malloy has worked hard to carve a place for himself both in and out of the MC world. Working days as a mechanic, he spends his nights rebuilding motorcycles with the hope of one day owning his own shop. After taking one of the club’s new hang-arounds under his wing, Bishop is conflicted over his growing attraction for the man’s girlfriend.

Even though she’s determined to bring down the Raiders, Samantha discovers their world isn’t as black-and-white as she thought. And as the stakes grow higher, she’s in danger of losing more than her heart.

My Last Mile  Review . . .

It has felt like forever for Bishop's book.  I wasn't sure how the ultimate player was going to lose his heart, but when he did he did with a bang.   Bishop is the fun loving sergeant of arms Hells Raiders MC, he's also the little Malloy brother to 'Deacon' and 'Rev'.

Samantha Vargas is an ATF agent with something to prove after the loss of her father.  What fuels her hate fire is anything to do with any MC club.  So when given the opportunity to go undercover its a blessing and a curse for her.  The goal is to nail the Hell Raiders for selling guns but when Samantha finds the truth will she do the right thing for her or her job?

The infiltration was easy.  Samantha's partner was to be a hang-around hoping to move up the ranks with in this MC club with Samantha as his girlfriend.  First she was just going to flirt with Bishop but instantly she felt a connection with him making her question everything.

A member of a MC and an ATF agent.  I wasn't sure how this was going to play out but ended up playing out nicely.  There could have been loads of unnecessary angst with this story line but thankfully there wasn't which made it so much easier to swallow.  When the MC's start to go legitimate the stories can come across less gritty and raw but Katie was able to keep the down and dirty of the this MC world.

Samantha didn't mean to fall in love on the job but the more she learned about Bishop the harder it was not to.  At first she thought it would be easy to get under Bishop but his loyal ways made it much harder for Samantha to get what she needed. Which at first was her job but in the end, it was her heart that needed to be filled.

Bishop has never lost his heart to love before so when it shatters he's only knows to push away.  Thankfully Rev and Deacon are now more rational minded where it comes to love to help Bishop see the whole truth, but that doesn't mean forgiveness will come easily for him.

There is just something about this series that warms my heart.
