The Wedding Dare Series - #reviews

The Series as a whole I loved the concept of different authors collaborating together in the same series.  There is pros and cons to reading a series all at once.  One of the pros is that you are immersed into the series but on the flip side is that immersion can also cause saturation. The premise of this series is Kady and Colton from book #0.5 are getting married and once all the bridesmaids are there for the wedding they make a wedding dare to snag the groomsmen.

Dare to Resist (Wedding Dare 0.5)

by

A sexy category romance from Entangled's Brazen imprint...

Trapped and tempted, this battle of wills rages all night long…

Kady Dresco and Colton Brooks click on a level that defies logic. There are only two problems. One, he’s her older brother’s irritating best friend, and two, they're bidding on the same military security services contract.

When the competition heats up, Colton is torn between wanting to strangle Kady (and her annoying brilliance) and kissing her into submission. Which is a bad idea for a million reasons, because Kady’s submission is exactly what he craves. Being trapped in a tiny motel room with the object of his darkest fantasies will require every ounce of his restraint.

Kady doesn’t want his restraint, but Colton knows better. She deserves love, marriage, and a white picket fence—three things Colton can’t give her. But her proximity and the memory of their steamy near-miss three years ago slowly destroys his resolve. And he’s not sure how much longer he can keep his hands off…or his heart closed.

The first 0.5 part of the series

My Dare To Resist Review ...

Well these two are the whole reason the wedding dare happened in the first place.

Kady is great at her job but her only real competition is her old crush who just happens to be her brother's best friend.

Colton has always wanted Kady but he is some personal demons that keep him from having her.

An unexpected situation throws them together that causes all the truths to come out.
"I could fucking live on the need I hear in your voice right now."
Colton has dark urges and he wants Kady but he knows he can't tame that part to have her.

Kady has secret desires but no one expect Colt has ever given her.  The only way she can get what she wants is with dark romance fiction.  Once Colt finds her secret everything changes and just maybe he can have his heart and not compromise who he is.

Once they let go, the sparks fly and all hell breaks loose.
"Tell me you want me inside you, Kady. Tell me you want so deep I might never find my way back out again."
Intriguing start to this series and I can't wait to find out more.

Part 1.5 in a series but this series doesn't have to be read in order

My Falling for the Groomsmen Review ...

I started to read this book but then I put it aside and read Baiting the Maid of Honor instead.  The reason why I did this was I felt it too similar of a story line to Dare to Resist so I needed a break and read #2 first.  I'm also glad I read that first because I felt it gave a better set up for the series.  After reading Baiting the Maid of Honor I came back to this one and quite enjoyed it.

Tyler, Kady's brother has one regret and that is taking Christine's virginity 8 years ago and running like a scared kid.

Christine has lost a lot and makes lists to try to keep her from getting to involved or getting hurt and one thing that is not on the list is Tyler.

Christine who is Kady's friend does her best to ignore her brother but Tyler is not going to let that happen.  As she adjusts her list to accommodate her new choices it also blows up in her face when she finally realizes what she wants and needs.

Tyler, is not one for risks so he is married to his job instead but with Christine its different and he is willing to do anything to make Christine a priority in his life.

As Christine and Tyler give in to their desires, hearts are on the line when the truth comes out.  Sweet series, good couple, good drama.

He’ll own her from the very first touch.

Which is why he’s not about to stand by when she’s dared to seduce another man.

Julie wants neat, tidy sex, so she could get back to what she does best—making everybody else happy. She never expected to slip into a dark bedroom and have her mind blown by rough, demanding hands, and a sinfully filthy mouth—neither of which belong to the best man.

Part 2.5  in a series but this series doesn't have to be read in order

My Baiting the Maid of Honor Review ...

Now before I start my review, let's just start with I friggin' LOVE Tessa Bailey.  She knows how to write a great broken alpha with lots of heart.

Reed is the sexy, brooding broken and jaded SWAT guy who is only there to be by his friend's side that's it.

Julie the pixie type 'a' personality who puts her everything to being perfect which is really her trying to fill a void.  She thinks she wants someone just as 'perfect ' on paper but what she doesn't know is she needs a dominating bad ass to balance her out.
"When you think she deserves someone better? When you can't imagine being the one who actually gets to keep her? That's how you know you're the one who deserves her. ..."
Reed and Julie's chemistry is undeniable but their own personal issues are what cause them to bicker and try to deny themselves.

As Reed realizes that he wants Julie, he gets dragged along to help her because he can't seem to let her go.
"So we bust in like some kind of vigilante cock blocks and ruin their night. Sounds like a stellar plan."
I so love the way Tessa Bailey writes and makes you fall in love with her characters.  This book is by far my favorite of the series.  As Julie and Reed figure out their shit with the help of their friends they finally open up enough to let each other in and find exactly what they need to be whole.
"You said in the forest, you don't know who you are with me. I hated it at the time.  But the truth is, I don't know who I am with you, either. I only know I'm so much better. Stronger. Happier."

Seducing The Bridesmaid (Wedding Dare #3)

by

A sexy category romance from Entangled’s Brazen imprint…

She has a plan. He’s about to change it.

Regan Wakefield is a headhunter in both name and personality: driven, motivated, and unafraid to pursue what—and who—she wants. Naturally, she’s thrilled when her friend's wedding offers her an opportunity to score Logan McCade, the practically perfect best man. Unfortunately, groomsman Brock McNeil keeps getting in her way, riling her up in the most delicious of ways. But Brock’s smooth southern charm isn't part of the plan...so how exactly did they end up having searing-hot sex?

Regan may pretend the erotic electricity sparking between them is merely a distraction, but Brock knows better. She refuses to see beyond the devil-may-care façade he presents to the world, while he sees straight through hers. Changing her mind—and getting under her skin—is a challenge he can’t resist. And when he wins, Brock will do whatever it takes to convince Regan that the best man for her is him.

Part 3.5 in a series but this series doesn't have to be read in order

My Seducing the Bridesmaid Review ...

I am all for the strong woman but Regan came across more as a bossy bitch instead of a kick ass strong woman.
"Woman, you're as mean as a copperhead. Come here and let's find out if you're as cold-blooded."
Regan is the tough as nails friend who has a plan and what here plan doesn't have room for his the rich spoiled arrogant types like Brock.

Brock is the loveable type who has charm coming out of his ears but he has always been misunderstood and not given the worth that he deserves.

Brock has his sites on Regan even though she is trouble, but Brock sees more than is there.  Regan has her sites on Logan who fits her plan.

Even though it's not part of the plan Regan thinks she can bed Brock and still have Logan but the more she is with Brock she starts to doubt her plan.
"I swear to God, woman, I'm going to make love to you good and proper before the week's out."
I did like this story but Regan's plan became to much that I wanted to throttle her judgmental ass.  Brock was perfect in my eyes and I thought he deserved better than Regan.  She slightly redeemed herself but she was hard to like especially compared to the awesomeness of Brock.  I have read other books by Katee Roberts and liked them as I did this one, my dislike for Regan had nothing to do with the writing of this book, just personal preference is all.

He must coax Colton’s sister out of her shell, or risk her hiding in her room all week. If she’s not careful, she just might fall for the best man.

Sophie’s sweet, sexy, and delectably awkward demeanor brings much-needed calm to Logan’s hectic life. With the nuptials only days away, Logan is forced to face the possibility that his favor to a friend might have become something else entirely…and that he’s not willing to let Sophie go. Ever.

My Best Man with Benefits Review ...

Finally we get to find out what has been happening behind the scenes with Logan and Sophie.

Sophie is the super shy woman who wants to re-invent herself but can Logan really be the answer to this transition.

Logan started his own business and loved it but lately the business has become to much and it doesn't know how to balance everything.  Even though he is super busy he is also loyal so when his best friend ask for him to look out for his little sister.  He said yes not realizing that Sophie was going to change his world in so many different ways.

This was my first Samanthe Beck Novel (insert gasp here) I know, but after this it definitely won' t be my last.  I have a few of her other books on my kindle that will be bumping there way up my TBR.

I thought this story was adorable with some heat.  Sophie the shy misunderstood girl with kinky desires seems to pull in the most eligible groomsmen.  I loved the idea of Sophie her insecurities got a bit much at times and took away from her character but Logan *sigh* he made up for her weakness.

Logan teaches Sophie to be herself and see the beauty that everyone else sees when they see her.  With the love and acceptance of Logan, Sophie shines which causes Logan to re-evaluate his needs and wants out of life.  For the first time he wants more and makes it happen.

Great chemistry, great story, great series.

The Reality of You

by

Naomi Porter was once witty, fun, and outgoing, but she has scratched outgoing off the list, along with men. She has a mediocre tech job in fabulous New York, a large smut book collection, and awesome friends, both tangible and in an online gaming community. She just doesn’t date. A future filled with cats and housedresses beats having her heart broken again.

But Naomi still likes men, even kind of stalks—mostly fantasizes about—a gorgeous one at work during lunch.

Her best friend, Kara, is determined that Naomi will be outgoing again. When Kara finds out who, as in a notorious playboy, Naomi is stalking at lunch, she plans to break Naomi of her lunchtime habit and bring her back into the real world. It’s just going to take a bit of deception.

Between all the deceiving, fangirling, and bumbling, Naomi might not be able to resist the temptation of turning her seven-month fantasy into reality. And really, so what if he’s a playboy or a demanding jerk? Her fantasies don’t include love or even like, just a bed or a couch or the back seat of a limo…

Reality might be just what she needs.

My The Reality of You Review ...

Oh this story sounds good.  A girl who was once outgoing & funny turns homebody and dull due to heartache has a huge crush on an unknown heartthrob from a far (because it is safer).  A boy who is a serial dater and doesn't take relationships seriously. A best friend, who just wants her old friend back and is willing to do anything to make that happen.  Then there is the chance where the boy and girl's world collide causing all kinds of trouble.

Naomi starts out funny but her mooning over Reece got a bit tiring even thought I get what she was going through,  but when reading it there were times when it felt a bit drawn out.

For the first part of the book Reece came across as a big twat but I think that was the point then at 50% of the book, things started to come together and Naomi started to calm down and Reece's sweetness started to come to the forefront.

Once things start to settle in and it looks like things are going good then BAM! shit got stirred.  Now I knew something was going on with her best friend Kara and I assumed one thing but then I was surprised when it was not what I was thinking but something totally else.

Also there was a part with Reece's grandmother that I felt got a bit dropped or could have caused more angst but it felt like it was a bit forgotten and there was a lots of potential angst with this.

This book had humor, heart, chemistry and love.  Reece ended up being a shining star and Naomi got over her double standards and Jean Haus rocked my world again.  Even though there was a couple of things that left me wanting more, I really did adore this book as I have everyone of Jean Haus's book.  She has a gift for writing a great story with a great balance of lightness, emotions, drama and passion.

My Stranded with a Billionaire Review ...

Who wouldn't want to be stranded on an island with a sexy billionaire? I know I wouldn't have an issues with that scenario.

Bronte is a woman living a mediocre life and not to her full potential but with a chance from a radio station she wins a trip to an island resort in the Bahamas.  Thinking this might be her luck turning but it quickly turns to reality with a terrible roommate, and a bit sub par hotel but she's not complaining because its free.  Picking up after her terrible friend/roommate she ends up stranded back at the resort due to a terrible hurricane.  Which ends up not being so bad because she ends up stranded with the unknown Logan.

Logan is a bit of a player because he doesn't trust females.  As they want is him for his money and nothing else, so it becomes easy to treat woman a bit like crap.  However, being stranded with the fascinating Bronte causes him to doubt his opinions and choices.

"Love is not control, Logan. Love is partnership. Friendship. ... "

What starts out as an island fling turns to so much more, but for Logan he always gets what he wants no matter the cost.  Well that is the case until Bronte, where he has to change his toon if he wants to move forward with her.  For Bronte, she just wants Logan not the money but with Logan and his personal issues also comes miscommunication and trust issues that cause a big rift between the two of them.  Logan has to learn and grow a lot to realize that someone could love him just for him but when he finally does realize this he goes balls to the wall and completely opens up where there can be no secrets between the two. This is the only way that they will be able to move forward.

Logan plays the jaded billionaire well and ends up being a sweetheart in the end and captured my heart.   The chemistry is explosive between the two but there has to be more to a relationship then great chemistry.  Now this is what makes their relationship so much more.
"If he makes you happy, don't set up obstacles that don't have to be there. Love is more important than anything else in the world. ..."
I really did like this book and will definitely be moving forward and reading more with these intriguing billionaire boys.

Part of a series but can be read as a standalone.

My Straddling the Line Review ...

I'm such a sucker for sport romances. I have no idea why, but for some reason I love them.  I find with some sport romances are over the top but Jaci Burton knows how to write a great sports book with just the right amount of steam, passion, sports, angst, emotion and love.

Trevor Shay can not only play baseball, he is also a professional football player as well.  Now with that talent and schedule who would even have the time to date?  The answer to that is Trevor Shay would.

Haven a sportscaster and the daughter of someone near and dear to Trevor is having a hard time so, Trevor tries to make it right by having Haven interview him and get to know him.  What he didn't anticipate was the intimacy of that getting to know topic.  The chemistry between the two is undeniable, so why fight it.

Even though Trevor lets Haven in he's also holding a secret inside that is very personal and could destroy many things.   The closer they get the more that secret can tear them apart.  But what Trevor doesn't know is the truth can only empower him.  With the help of Haven he lets go of his demons and makes room in his heart and life for Haven.

I so adore this series and when I am in the mood for a great sweet sports romance then this is my series go to.  I like the fact that this series is multi-faceted when it comes to sports and relationships yet with a great amount of chemistry and balance of angst and love.  The stories are humble and sweet with enough passion and electricity to keep them exciting.

The Dare Excerpt Reveal by Rachel Van Dyken

The Dare:

From #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Rachel Van Dyken, comes the third and final book in the New York Time's Bestselling Bet Series...

Boring Beth Lynn has always lived up to her nickname... until she wakes up in a hotel bed next to a sexy as sin state senator she re-connected with at a wedding the previous night.

The biggest problem? She can't seem to remember anything about the night before except for crying into a box of cookies, and she's pretty sure Grandma Nadine slipped something in her drink. And what should have been a one night stand turns into a six day adventure when Grandma whisks them off to Hawaii to save them from the ensuing media firestorm.

Jace isn't looking for commitment -- he believes he made that clear when he left the wedding with Beth. Then again, he can't remember much of anything other than the way her skin felt beneath his hands. Now he's stuck with her at some lame couple's retreat and trying his hardest to fight the attraction only a woman like Beth could invoke.

He doesn't think it can get any worse.

But one spider attack... A donkey ride from hell... And an unfortunate episode with Viagra tea -- and there's one thing Jace knows for sure: He should never have agreed to Grandma Nadine's suggestion in the first place.

Because if this isn't paradise, and it isn't a vacation -- that only leaves one option.

Survival.

But to make it through alive... they might lose their hearts in the process.

 Excerpt

“Beth!” Jace knocked on the door. “If you’re done freaking out, we need to go.” “Right.” I wiped my wet cheeks and clenched the dress in my hands. It wasn’t magic. If anything, it was just a reminder that I was exactly where I’d been when I’d graduated in 2000. A loser. A loser with a small rack who preferred math and science to Facebook. “Beth, I’m serious. It’s not looking good.” “Keep your pants on!” I yelled, irritated that he was making me hurry. With a curse, I pulled on the dress, put my wet hair in a quick pony tail, and opened the bathroom door. “What’s the big hurry?” Jace held up his phone. It said Grandma Nadine. “Hello!” a loud voice yelled. “Jace! Beth! Hurry! Grandma has this all figured out.” “Famous last words.” Jace nodded. “But we have no choice.” “No choice?” I repeated. “What? Is the mafia after us or
something?” “Worse.” “I highly doubt that.” “Look.” He pointed to the TV. Reporters were in front of a hotel, looking excited as hell. “The news?” I asked. “Why is that worse than—” “Special reports say the senator took a prostitute back to his room at midnight last night and has yet to check out! Which raises the question, has the senator truly put his murky past behind him? Sources close to the senator’s ex-fiancée say the cheating scandal from two years ago nearly destroyed him. One more scandal won’t bode well for the youngest senator in state history. Could a trust issue in his personal life have a reflection on his public one?” “That’s enough.” I grabbed the remote from Jace’s frozen hand and threw it onto the bed. Great. So not only had I lost my virginity to a politician, but now I was a prostitute. I reached for his cell phone and growled into it. “We’ll have words later.” Grandma snorted. “But get us out of here first.” “Say the magic words.” “Uh, please?” I nudged Jace out of his paralyzed state. “Not those words.” I closed my eyes and allowed visions of my calm and sterile office to bring back the peace into my body. That didn’t work. I needed to think about Vampire Diaries. Damon Salvatore. Damon Salvatore. Damon Salvatore. And happy place found! “I can’t read minds. What words do you want me to say?” Grandma chuckled. “Why, thank you, of course!” “For?” “How was he?” She giggled like a school girl. “Men with power seem to have a special type of—” “Thank you!” I all but shouted. “Now get us out of here.” “Roger.” The phone went dead. I looked to Jace for help, but he seemed to be fighting a losing battle with his tie as he tried to pull it from his neck. “Stop.” I swatted his hands away. “You’re going to hang yourself if you keep doing that.” He shrugged. “What?” I loosened the tie. “No snappy retort?”

“Not feeling snappy,” he said dryly. I slapped him. I never said I was good with emotions. “What the hell was that for?” “Singing Katy Perry.” I grinned. “Now snap to it, Mr. Senator. We’ve gotta make it out of this hotel without that skinny bitch reporting it on the evening news.” “Grandma?” “The reporter.” “You understand my confusion,” he added, just as someone knocked on the door. “Stay here.” “It feels like a bad movie,” I whispered to myself as I chewed the nail polish off my thumb. “Shit.” Jace looked through the peephole and then said shit about five more times before slowly opening the door. Why was he so upset? Why the hell would… “Aw, shit.” I repeated. Because there really wasn’t any other word that existed in the English language that would fit as well. So I repeated it again. As did Jace. Grandma shrugged and pulled off her sunglasses. “Let the fun begin!”

In return, he pledged to live outside the law, protecting club members and their families, as well as keeping other MCs out of Skulls Creek. But when Cage discovers that a rival MC—one Cage has an all too familiar past with—plans to push meth into his town, he calls an old Army buddy turned private investigator who’s helped the Vipers in the past. By doing so, Cage endangers both his friend and Calla, a woman who works in the PI’s office. Now he’s made it his mission to track Calla down and do whatever it takes to protect her.

Thanks to the phone call with Cage, Calla knows she’s formed a deep connection to a dangerous man.  She quickly discovers that although he may live by a different set of rules, Cage is an honorable man who wants to be more than her protector—if only she can accept his dangerous lifestyle.  But Calla comes to Skulls Creek with her own set of secrets…secrets that threaten to tear her and Cage—and the Vipers MC—apart.  As they put their newfound love to the ultimate test, Cage will risk everything he cares about to save her……

My Vipers Run Review ...

Gah! I wanted to love this book as I am a softy when it comes to MC books but this one felt more like a watered down version of the SOA.  Some of the conversions were rushed and confusing.  The dual POV's often weren't clear and I had to re-read to find out who the POV was supposed to be from.

The idea of the book was good, where one chance phone call can change the fate of everything but it just didn't have the oomph to pull it off.  Calla works for a PI and answers the phone when she's not supposed to.  This call happens to be from Cage who happens to be dying because he was beaten, stabbed and shot.

After talking to Calla, Cage has something to fight for. This phone call is the catalyst for many things that felt all over the place and kind of jumbled but there was a HEA.  This is the part where I felt like I was re-watching a watered down version of the SOA.  But I did get my HEA in this MC world so that did make me happy.

I so badly wanted to love this.  It definitely was not my favorite but I would be willing to give this series another go to see if this was just a 'meh' one off or if the whole series will be 'meh'.

My For Dylan Review ...

Well, what wouldn't you do for your bisexual husband?? Well for Claire the answer is anything.

Claire knew when she met Dylan that he was bisexual and that he might crave more than just her.  Dylan swore he didn't need anything more than just her until his ex comes back into town.

All Claire wants is for Dylan to be happy so offers Dylan a free pass to be with his ex, but for Dylan he is all in with Claire so, it is the three of them or a no go.

This is where it gets steamy when they decide to give it a go.  The threesome was good with no awkwardness or possessiveness, it just was.  For Claire and Dylan it was just right and what they needed to make their relationship even more solid.

Very very quick short MMF story.  It fit all of my expectations for this MMF journey.  Amelia Swan is a debut author and for her first foray into writing she is definitely on the write track even with it being so short.  I will definitely read more from her in the future.
