Full Blurb

I’m an animal, a member of the Sin City Outlaws motorcycle club that isn't capable of human compassion. So I’ve been told anyway.
Raven is my club’s prisoner. I’ve been ordered to break her. It should be easy given my violent history. But being this close to a woman—this woman—for the first time in a long time, is like sharing company with the demon Lilith herself.
She’s my perfect toy. Filled with a dark rage. Blessed with perfected beauty. Sinfully sweet and wickedly divine. Everything about her solicits the demons inside me
I want to hear her screams. I want those big, dark eyes looking up at me—silently begging me for mercy. I want to be her heaven…and her hell.
My desire for her is forbidden. My infatuation is illicit. I’m betraying my club.
And if the wage of my sin is death, then this woman is going to get me killed.

ILLICIT TEASER 1.png

EXCERPT
“Kill me?” she whispers, her fingertips caressing my cheek. I want to push my body onto her, and feel her warmth against my skin one more time before I take her life and her body cools. I’m going to enjoy her. She’s dark and twisted.
I smile and bend down to get closer to her. Running my hand through her soft black hair I pet her, brushing her loose hairs away from her face. Fuck, I’m excited to play with her, hear her scream and watch her fear me. To quickly kill someone as pretty and smart as her would be a goddamn waste. Like breaking a toy before you got a chance to play with it, this needs to be done slowly.

“Oh no sweetheart, the fun is just about to start,” I threaten in a low whisper.

Something dark passes over her face, but she doesn’t break eye contact. It’s almost as if she sobers completely.

Suddenly a foot strikes me in the chest and I sail into the side of the van.

Part 4 but can be read as a Standalone

My Illicit Review . . .

This is technically book 4 of the Sin City Outlaws series but it can be read as a standalone.  The series keeps growing on me and the story line continues to get darker and darker.   In Illicit, we have Machete who's a bit deranged but still has a huge heart.  And we have Raven who is BROKEN.  She's broken from her past, and for her to start to heal she needs to be broken more to break free of her shackles.

The Sin City boys like to live on the edge and do the opposite of what's normal.  In Reign & Mercy, Zeek the president falls for the local sheriff Jillian, which is the most taboo when it comes to their world.  On his coat tails,  in Retaliate Felix his vice-president falls for the Sheriff's best friend Alessandra, whom also happens to be one of the town's cops.  However, Alessandra has a past that is lurking in the basement of her mind and her new partner Raven brings her past to the present.

With this, Raven becomes an enemy of the club as she tries to destroy Alessandra.  However, this is the beginning of the end for Raven and she starts to see the light within her darkness.  And her light comes in the way of the club enforcer, Machete.

Machete has sworn off woman as a whole but Raven's crazy speaks to his crazy and he can't stop from wanting her.

The boys of the Sin City Outlaws are a family and they will support each other no matter what, and in Illicit this is proven many times over.

" . . . We're the fucking Sin City Outlaws, a brotherhood stronger than any family."

Even though Raven may be their enemy, the MC and her have something in common, which is vengeance for the same person.

Machete and Raven have their own brand of psycho but together it was also a dark sexy.  I don't think there could be anyone more suited for one another but these two.

I liked the book and I'm always a sucker for a MC romance and this series always fits the bill for me.  It has enough grit and rawness that I prefer within the MC genre but at times it also has too much smoothness making it unbelievable at times, but not enough to turn me against the story.

3 . 5 Sexy yet a bit psycho thumbs up!

SMITTY'S SHERIFF by Cardeno C. Blog Tour #bookreview #excerpt #MMromance

SBPRBanner-SS-BT.jpg

Smitty’s Sheriff, a sexy, heart-warming MM romance by Cardeno C. is available now!

SmittysSherrif_eBookFinal

Todd is too flakey. Richard is too stubborn. Together, they're perfect. A May-December couple get a second chance at love.
Retired soldier Richard Davis wants a stable life in a quiet town with a forever man. Becoming the sheriff of Hope, Arizona, accomplishes two of his three goals, but instead of finding a serious partner, he falls for too-young-to-be-committed and too-flakey-to-be-serious Todd Smitty. Richard won’t find the right man if he’s obsessed with the wrong one, so he walks away from Todd.
It’s lust at first sight when Todd meets his sister’s army friend. He sets his sights on the worldly, strong, stable older man, and the more time he spends with Richard, the harder he falls. But after three years together, Richard cuts off all contact with no explanation.
When a mutual obligation requires Todd to move into Richard’s house, he’s thrilled at the opportunity to earn a second chance. Ignoring Todd from across town was hard enough. Can Richard resist temptation under his own roof?

Excerpt:

“Todd.” Leanne snapped her gaze toward him. “You’re not too young to know the nickname people used to call guys named Richard, are you?
“Uh.” Todd blinked and darted his gaze between Rich and Leanne. They were finally paying attention to him and all he wanted was to go back to being invisible.
Dick,” she said. “Big D got his nickname before we met, but some of us in my squad figured it wasn’t just about his last name being Davis. So we had a bet going.”
She flicked her gaze to Rich again, as if expecting him to interrupt.
He didn’t.
“Problem is, we couldn’t agree on which side won because we couldn’t get solid evidence.” She focused on Todd. “But now I have an eyewitness.”
“I, uh, I don’t—” Todd stammered, hating being in the middle of what felt like an argument.
“Don’t let Sparky get to you,” Rich said, still completely unbothered.
“Some of the guys saw Big D in the latrines, and they said he’s big all over, but when they tried to collect on the bet, the other side made a good point.” She narrowed her eyes menacingly at Rich. “If the man’s a show-er, that means he isn’t grow-er, so he doesn’t actually have a big D, now does he? That means the other side should win.”
Todd drew his eyebrows together and tried to follow Leanne’s question. “Are you saying you guys have a bet going on the size of Rich’s dick?”
“Yep.” Leanne leaned against the chairback, looking smug. “And you, little brother, are going to settle that bet.”
Normally, Todd had no problem talking about a guy’s package. Hell, in the right situation, dicks were damn near his favorite topic. But he had never spoken to anyone about Rich’s body or, really, anything else related to Rich because he knew that was off limits. Of course, Leanne was asking him the question because she already knew he had the answer.
Flicking his gaze toward Rich, Todd said, “Am I allowed to…”
“It’s a simple question,” Leanne snapped. “Is he a grow-er or a show-er?”
Rich didn’t tell him to stay quiet so Todd figured he had permission to answer. “Both.”
She blinked.
“Seriously.” He bobbed his head. “Length, girth.” He held his hands far apart. “It’s awesome.” As long as he had permission to share, he figured he should be thorough in his explanation. “His balls too.”
Leanne coughed.
“I mean it. They’re huge. Each one’s a mouthful by itself.”
“Ehm.” Leanne cleared her throat. “Thanks.” Looking decidedly uncomfortable, she held her palm up in a stop motion. “I’m good on the details. You don’t need to keep going.”
“Are you sure?” After a lifetime of being the butt of the joke with his siblings, Todd enjoyed turning the table. “I can sketch you a picture, but I’ll need one of those extra-long pieces of paper if you want it to scale.”
“That won’t be necessary.” Leanne actually blushed. “I’m all set.”
Rich threw his head back and laughed. “Thanks, Todd. Eighteen years these jackasses have had the silly bet going and I do believe you just put it to rest.”
Thrilled with the praise and relieved to be playing and flirting with Rich again, Todd smiled broadly. “No problem. When it comes to your big D, I’m always willing to lend a hand.”
He settled into the chair, comfortable for the first time that night, and when the conversation turned back to stories about people he didn’t know, he truly didn’t mind. Eighteen years was a long time. If Rich had cared about putting an end to the bet, he’d probably had a dozen different chances. That he did it now, meant his goal had been less about the bet and more about a point. Todd knew something about Rich that nobody else did, or at least nobody who mattered enough to meet his friends. That meant Todd mattered. Leanne knew that now. And so did he.

My Smitty's Sheriff  Review . . .

First off, let's start off with I adore Cardeno C.  Every single one of CC's works I adore.  And Smitty's Sheriff is another sweet story.  It's an easy quick read about second chances in a May-December romance.

Richard Davis is the town Sheriff and since the moment he laid eyes on Todd Smitty he was smitten.  However, Todd's youth is a bit of a negative quality for Rich.  But that becomes less and less important once he starts something with Todd.  As years goes by Rich wants more but doesn't feel Todd can give him that.

Now after being broken up for awhile Richard needs Todd to help him out with a situation causing both of them to be forced to live together and to also deal with their misgivings and miscommunications.

Todd was devastated when Rich broke things off but the big thing was that he didn't know the reason why.  Now that he's forced to help Rich he can now finally find the truth and hopefully mend the gap between the two of them.

This was such a sweet story.  It's a super quick read and as always it was pure CC style and I adored it.

3 . 5 It always pay to communicate thumbs up!

Steal by Rachel Van Dyken Blog Tour #bookreview #excerpt #teasers

SBPRBanner-STEAL-BT.jpg

Steal, an all-new sexy standalone from #1 New York Times Bestseller Rachel Van Dyken is available now!!

Steal_eBook_HiRes

Steal by Rachel Van Dyken Release Date: July 3rd

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Steal, the follow-up standalone rockstar romance to the #1 NYT Bestseller Keep…
It's easy to lose yourself in someone you love.
Easier to lose yourself in someone you hate…
I didn't think it could get any worse than having to babysit a bunch of spoiled musicians on set — keeping them out of trouble is a cakewalk compared to seeing my ex every day.
Seaside, Oregon isn't big enough for the both of us.
She hates me.
I loathe her.
The plan was simple — stay the hell away and make sure she gets to set on time.
What I didn't expect was to be faced with our past in front of an audience — and be forced to face it again.
It's torture.
The way she looks at me.
The way I try to look through her.
Words left unsaid.
The lingering aftermath still as powerful as ever.
I feed the chasm between us, for fear that she'll make me feel again — and steal the last shred of heart I have left.
We have everything but each other.
It's not enough.
Not when you've lost love.
And replaced it with the only thing left — hate.

Excerpt:
I blinked up at the white ceiling, willing the tears to dry. Praying they wouldn’t slip free — because once they were loose there was no stopping the onslaught of emotion that would follow, the devastation, the earth-shattering realization that nothing would ever be the same between us. Not if he could help it — and not with me constantly pushing him.
But at least pushing him got me a reaction that proved he wasn’t a complete indifferent sociopath.
I refused to let him get to me.
With a sigh I turned onto my side and stared out the window imagining a different time a different place, where he was by my side — and promised to never leave.
That and the way his hands ran down my skin like he was getting ready to worship me the way he used to.
Only his face hadn’t been filled with wonder — disgust was more like it.
I clung to the anger like a blanket. It was the only way to sleep, the only way I was able to close my eyes and pray the sickness in my chest away.
Anger forced me to focus on doing my job and getting as far away from my past as possible.
Weakness would just make me sad.
It would make me that — weak;
And I knew where that road led.
It led me directly back to all the things that turned me down that road in the first place.
Not being good enough.
Pretty enough.
Funny enough.
Weakness led me to a false sense of strength.
And my number one weakness had always been Will Sutherland.
It was possible — to give so much of your heart and soul to a person that you lost who you were.
I became a different person with him — a person I thought I needed to be in order to compete in our world. A person our world told me I had no choice but to become in order to stay relevant.
I punched my pillow one last time and attempted to sleep.
Two hours later, when sleep still wouldn’t come, I padded my way into the kitchen and made coffee, then laid my head against the couch and thought about the way his lips felt on my ear.
Inches from my neck.
Breaths from my body.
I ached for him in ways I never knew existed.
And I relished in the ache just like I relished in the anger, because at least that meant it had happened, and at least that meant I knew he was a bad choice I wasn’t willing to make again.
A weakness that wouldn’t just hurt me.
But kill me.
Sometime around one in the morning when the clock on the microwave blinked at me with an intensity that started a pulsing headache to form — I stumbled over to the couch and face planted — the last thought in my head was of the Sutherland Sunset — and how it had once been my anchor until it turned into my hell.
What a joke.
What a cruel joke.
“You made coffee.” Will’s smooth voice interrupted what had been a completely dreamless sleep.
I didn’t have the energy to respond with anything other than a grunt.
“Still not a morning person,” he commented. His footsteps might as well be sledgehammers drilling into the wood floor.
“Why?” I croaked.
The walking stopped. Lights flicked on. I shivered and cursed him to Hell as he poked his head over the couch and had the audacity to smile. “Why what?”
My eyes narrowed. “Talking.”
“Why talking?” He took a sip out of the blue mug I’d been drinking out of earlier that morning; he must have reheated the coffee. “Still really eloquent in the morning I see.” Another annoying sip. The terrorist didn’t even offer me any! Just kept loudly sipping while staring at me with a stupid ass grin on his face like it was a joy to be awake at… wait, what time was it?
I jolted to a sitting position, my pounding headache still wasn’t gone, in fact it was worse, probably brought on by Will’s cheerful demeanor and loud walking. “What time is it?”
“You have twenty minutes until you’re expected on set.” His voice was calm behind me, warm. If I closed my eyes I could almost imagine his body was about to wrap around me like a blanket, I’d tuck my feet under my body and rest my head on his shoulder, we’d share a cup of coffee like we used to and watch the news before work.
It took us one date to become inseparable.
Our trailers side by side.
Cohabitating.
Finishing sentences.
Eating off each other’s plates.
Sharing inside jokes.
Not to mention, Will had been my first.
I shivered as his footsteps moved away from me taking his body right along with them.
That was the past.
It needed to stay there.
With a sigh, I shot up to my feet and started making my way back to my room.
I only made it about one foot before Will started cursing.
Panicked, I froze and then turned around. “What’s wrong?”
His eyes narrowed over the rim of the blue cup, “I’m just trying to decide if you’re doing it on purpose.”
“Doing what?” Okay now I was getting annoyed. And the man wouldn’t stop slurping his coffee as though he didn’t know how to sip like a grown up!
He shrugged one of his shoulders. “Wearing no clothes.”

Par 3 of a Spin Off Series but can be considered a Standalone

My Steal Review . . .

When I saw Rachel Van Dyken's name I signed up immediately.  Steal is labeled as a standalone but it really is part of a series.  A spin off series actually.  I've only read the first couple of books of the Seaside series and Steal is part of Seaside Pictures which is a spin off of the original series.   Even though this is considered a standalone I do feel from not having read the whole previous series and part of this series that I was losing part of the essence of the story.

Will was once lead singer of a popular boy band now turned talent agent.  Angelica started as a young child actress and then had a turbulent journey into adulthood actor.  This was due to bad decisions and a drug addiction.    Will and Angelica were once in the midst of young forever love, but drugs got in the way causing both of these two to have broken hearts.

On the verge of the end of her career, Will is the only person to help save her.  Even though he hates her, but not as much as she hates herself.   Angelica has made many mistakes and her comeback chance is a role in a movie that portrays her villain past.  But this role is causing some emotional turbulence for both her and Will.

All the rock stars and celebrities that now live in Seaside also happen to be Will's clients and friends and they too want Will to have his HEA.  Even if they have to force him to forgive himself and Angelica.

"How it started - that no matter what it started rocky, it may get rocky, but it's good . . . so good."
"Messy. Chaotic. Perfect. Us."

Will and Ang started in young love, evolved to hate, sadness and anger then capped it back with love and forgiveness.   This was a sweet second chances story.  I do quite like all the characters and I regret not reading both of the series before hand so I would have an even better sense of all the characters and back stories.   Will and Ang's had many ups and downs but in the end it is love that wins.   When you're too stubborn to communicate properly thank goodness for good friends that make you realize what you have right in front of you, and how to get your head out of your ass when it counts.   If it wasn't for their friends there wouldn't have been much hope for these two.   After this the Seaside and The Seaside Pictures series are on my TBR list.

3 Second Chances thumbs up!
