About THE TATTERED GLOVES
Head down.
Don’t look up.
Never make eye contact.
Those were the words I lived by growing up, the words that protected me in an unsafe home. But words are only letters and eventually even they couldn’t keep his hands off me.
Hoping to leave behind the shattered life of my past, I find myself in a boring, small town, with an aunt I’ve never met and at a school I loathe.
But soon I learn, not everything in this world is as black and white as I’ve determined. Sometimes those we are so quick to judge often need a second, third or even fourth time to make a first impression.
And often, there are friendships and even love waiting just around the corner, if we are brave enough to take the first step.
Am I brave? Or will I hide behind these tattered gloves of mine forever?

My The Tattered Glove Review . . .
I was the road that no one wanted to walk on. The scary alley everyone avoided.
Because there was damaged, and then there was just plain broken.
And I was one step beyond all that.
Poor Willow and her broken soul. You know from the beginning something tragic has happened to her but we're left waiting to find out more while Willow starts to find herself and her self worth. The more she trusts in herself and lets people in, the more we get to find out about her past. Which is super sad and tragic. However, sadly most people have their own stories as well. And this is also how Willow learns to trust again realizing she's not the only one and it's okay to trust in others.
"I don't understand? Jesus, Willow! Haven't you heard a word I've said? Do you really think you're the only one around here who has issues? The only one who wishes they could put gloves on and remove themselves from the world? To wish away emotions and feelings?"
I absolutely love all the main characters especially Willow and Sam. But Addy and Allison are a great part of this story as well. For Willow, she tries to push the world away but these three keep at her in the most loving way until finally she gives in to their loving ways. The bond between Willow and Sam is just super sweet. When growing up I wish there were more Sams around, whom are true heroes in their own way.
The story was tragic but unfortunately its real with our world today, which makes this type of story needed even more. This is story about hope and second chances when you think there is nothing left.
I absolutely adored it and would recommend this book to any YA or Adult. I absolutely love J.L. Berg and can't wait for more from her.
4 There is always hope thumbs up!
