Guest Post: After humming and hawing I decided to ask Madeline these three questions. Enjoy what she had to say in response.

1) What makes the perfect partner?

Ah, that’s a tough one.  Is there any such thing as the perfect partner?  No, I don’t believe so.  Even after the initial attraction and mind blowing sexual chemistry something is always going to go wrong.
And it’s not a bad thing.  I think fighting is healthy.  I may be a minority in this but airing your feelings is important. 

So, what makes the perfect partner?  It’s all relative.
What makes my partner perfect for me?
He’s funny. Even at 37 he is still going to hardcore shows and stage diving, coming home with foot prints on his back and broken bones.
He’s cute.  He still wears his hoodie over his baseball cap just like he did at 21.
He’s loving, supportive of my career and most importantly he gave me the very best thing that ever happened to me.  My son.

2) Your version of beautiful.

I’m going to quote Danny from UnBeautifully for this question since I agree with her 100%.

“Everything has beauty. Even the ugly. Especially the ugly.
Because without ugly there would be no beauty.
Because without beauty we would not survive our pain, our sorrow, and our suffering.”

3) Where did you find the inspiration for the Undeniable?

I’ll admit it.  I’m a big fan of “Sons of Anarchy”.  Love it!  Not only that but secret sub-cultures intrigue me.  Which is why I’ve written about two of them; modern day Gypsies and Motorcycle Clubs.

EXCERPT:
 The first time I fell in love it was with a pair of blue eyes and a wide dimpled grin.

“Your old man loves ya, Danny girl,” He whispered. “You never ever forget that, yeah?”

I never did. And I never thought I could ever love any man as much as I loved my father. But as we grow, we change, we begin to make our own decisions and thus become independent and self sufficient and start turning away from our parents and turning to others. We form friendships, strong bonds and ties and begin experiencing life outside of the bubble we grew up inside of. 
And we fall in love…a second time.

The second time I fell in love it was with a badly scarred face, the stuff of nightmares; the sort of disfigurement that mothers steer their children away from. Ugly, jagged slashes marred the skin from the top of his skull, down over his right eye, an eye that had been dug out of his face with a serrated blade. The scars continued across his cheek, over his lips and down his neck, ending at the top of his shoulder. His chest was a hundred times worse; scar tissue as far as the eye could see.

“Baby,” He said gruffly, “Man like me got no business with a girl like you. You’re nothin’ but fuckin’ beauty and I’m a whole lot of fuckin’ ugly who’s already halfway to hell.”

But he was wrong.

Everything has beauty. Even the ugly. Especially the ugly.

Because without ugly there would be no beauty.

Because without beauty we would not survive our pain, our sorrow, and our suffering. 

And in the world I lived in, the world he lived in, a secret world within the world, a world of of constant crime and cruel, cold, death, there was almost nothing but suffering.

All over the ship, the party atmosphere had taken hold.  The cruise was predominantly made up of adults, thank god.  Nothing will ruin a good time faster than a crying baby or whiny toddler.  Shoot, throw in a child with a full-blown temper tantrum and I want to put a loaded gun in my mouth.  I seem to have managed to escape any hint of maternal instincts.  I have yet to experience a biological clock scare.  I’m probably more likely to encounter biological warfare on American soil than suffer from that ailment.  Who knows?  Maybe I’ll feel differently in five or ten years.  At the same time, I seriously hope not.
 
The aromas of the buffet on the lido deck hit me the minute I exited the elevator.  Then I remembered that if I planned to enjoy the buffets and maintain my slim size six figure then I would need to start taking the stairs.  I frowned.  Maybe I should take the mid-morning Pilates class that seemed to be offered daily, or walk the track.  I chuckled.  I don’t own a pair of sneakers.  Pilates it would be.
 
After loading a plate with salad, fruit, potato salad, and some nice southern fried chicken, I found a table by the windows that was vacant.  Setting the plate down on the granite, I started to pull out my chair when a man came out of nowhere and did it for me.  He wasn’t in uniform.  This wasn’t a crewmember being helpful.  Nope.  I had already attracted a new douche.  How the hell did they always seem to find me?  If this was any indication as to how the rest of the week was going to go, it was going to feel like a year.  I’m not the kind to hibernate in the cabin to avoid problems.  I find a way to make them go away.
 
This time would be no different.  After he helped me push in the seat, I spoke.  “Thank you.”  Then I focused on my food and started eating my salad.  Sometimes, I just can’t get enough roughage. 
 
“You are welcome, gorgeous.”  He smiled at me, a smile that clearly cost him more than most people make in six months.  “So, do you have a name?”
 
I was chewing and didn’t rush that part to answer him.  It would be good for him to wait.  He needed to be as uncomfortable as he was making me feel…or would have been making me feel if I wasn’t already worn out on men at the moment.  Leisurely, I swallowed.
 
“Yes.”  Then I loaded my fork with another bite and kept on eating.
 
Clearly, I had flustered him…not enough for him to leave me alone, mind you, but his soft underbelly was beginning to show.  It was all squishy and pink.  He laughed it off.  “What is it?”  He asked in what was probably his most seductive tone.
 
“You already guessed it.  Gorgeous.  It’s right there on my birth certificate.  Imagine how that could have gone had I not lived up to the hype.”  I looked at him evenly, not even cracking a smile.
 
Would you believe he just kept talking, like we were old friends or soon to be bedroom buddies.  That guy couldn’t have pried his way into my room with a crow bar.  Nope.  My vagina was closed to him for sure. 
 
Finally I interrupted him, which was just as well since I had tuned out everything after his empty chuckle.  “So, dude, what makes you think I was eating alone?”  I asked with more than a hint of annoyance.
 
“Well, you walked in here alone,” he began nervously.
 
“Yes, well, that’s not the same thing as being alone.”  This was the kind of moment that normally Jolie would rescue me from. She would show up and do something to ensure the guy knew we were “lovers.”  Maybe this time I was on my own.  Then I saw him.  He had those classic good looks, pretty without looking feminine; a strong jaw, beautiful warm brown eyes, and rich brown hair that was both thick and curly.  Why couldn’t that guy have pulled out my chair? 
 
Standing, I stepped in front of him.  “Babe, did you not see me?  I was right here.  Did you get my Coke?”  I could see that he was mildly shocked.  I could fix that.  In a few seconds he was going to be majorly shocked.  I planned to render him speechless…and malleable.  I stood on my tiptoes and planted a kiss on the tip of his nose.  As I imagined, I was offered a hungrier look.  That’s when I made my move.  Slowly, I matched my lips to his and then shifted so that I was angled and we were kissing…really really kissing.  He played along.  Seconds later he had played right into my hand.  Wow wow wow.
 
“Help me, please,” I breathed into his ear.
 
“Anything for you, sexy.”  He sealed his vow with a kiss on my cheek that totally did not suck.  He looked over at my intruder.  “Who’s this guy?”  He asked, jerking his thumb in the guy’s direction.
 
“I have no idea.  I’m sure he was just keeping the seat warm for you though.”  I smiled at him and frowned over at the guy who was keeping me from my meal.
 
“Uh, yeah, I was just leaving,” the man mumbled.  Then he stood up as he mumbled and soon walked away.
 
The new guy sat down.  I stared over at him.  “Hey, don’t mind me.  I just ended up getting drawn into your little charade.  Hope you don’t mind if I enjoy my meal while we keep up appearances?”  He smiled
 
“Nope.  We’re good,” I replied.
 
Though I was smiling at him, I had little to say.  There was so much going on in my mind…and thanks to Jolie, having an orgasm wasn’t part of that.  Still, I wasn’t going to turn down the possibility of some amazing guilt-free sex with a hot guy for anything.   Only I wasn’t sure how to gain his attention.  My smile hadn’t worked.  The kiss hadn’t accomplished anything.  What was it going to take to get a man like that to be interested in spending a few meaningless days on a cruise with me?

“Um, thanks. I appreciate it.” The T-shirt is soft, the fabric thin, as if it’s been worn plenty of times, and I have the sudden urge to hold it to my nose and inhale. See if I can somehow smell his scent lingering in the fabric.
The man is clearly turning me into a freak of epic proportions.
“You’re welcome.” He leans his tall body against the doorframe, looking sleepy and rumpled and way too sexy for words. I want to grab his hand and yank him into my room.
Wait, no I don’t. That’s a bad, terrible idea.
Liar.
“Is that all then?” I ask because we don’t need to be standing here having this conversation. First, my brother could find us and start in again on what a mistake we are. Second, I’m growing increasingly uncomfortable with the fact that I’m completely naked beneath the robe. Third, I’m still contemplating shedding the robe and showing Archer just how naked I am.
“Yeah. Guess so.” His voice is rough and he pushes away from the doorframe. “Well. Good night.”
“Good night,” I whisper but I don’t shut the door. I don’t move.
Neither does he.
“Ivy…” His voice trails off and he clears his throat, looking uncomfortable. Which is hot. Oh my God, everything he does is hot and I decide to give in to my impulses because screw it.

Like an idiot, I can’t come up with anything to say. It’s like my throat is clogged and I can hardly force a sound out, what with Ivy standing before me, her long, wavy dark hair tumbling past her shoulders, her slender body engulfed in the thick white robe I keep for guests. The very same type of robe we provide at Hush.
But then she does something so surprising, so amazingly awesome I’m momentarily dumbfounded by the sight.
Her slender hands go for the belt of the robe and she undoes it quickly, the fabric parting, revealing bare skin. Completely bare skin.
Holy shit. She’s naked. And she just dumped the robe onto the ground so she’s standing in front of me. Again, I must stress, naked.
My mouth drops open, a rough sound coming from low in my throat. Damn, she’s gorgeous. All long legs and curvy waist and hips and full breasts topped with pretty pink nipples. I’m completely entranced for a long, agonizing moment. All I can do is gape at her.
“Well, are you just going to stand there and wait for my brother to come back out and find us like this or are you going to come inside my room?”

My Review...

I thought this book was a sweet story with a heavy real subject.  


Leigh Anne is forced to come home after a terrible event in her life.  Once she is there she starts to question many things like: who she is, who really know her, who supports her, who loves her for her, etc...  During this time she realizes that she doesn't want to be part of the superficial world but doesn't know how to survive otherwise.

Insert Knox who is another troubled soul.  Together their brokenness draws them to one another and with this they can heal and become whole again. To everyone else they are wrong for one another but to them they are the perfect fit.
"...I'm less broken when I'm with you."
For Leigh Anne to heal she has to make some tough choices. Does she come forward and risk her family, and her love? Or does she keep quiet and save everyone else expect herself?

"Whatever happened to you, I wish I could take it all away."

In this tale it saddens me the lack of support Leigh Anne gets from her family.


There should be only support for someone you love being a survivor of rape. There should be no judgement.  In this story her family is more worried about how this will effect them instead of supporting Leigh Anne. 

"When you're ready to start supporting me instead of judging me, let me know, okay?"

The bottom line is.....No MEANS NO!


It is hard to stick up for yourself when by standing up you are going against the system and by doing this you have to re-play the event over and over again. 


But if she can go through this then hopefully justice can be served,  future victims can be saved or it can allow others to know that they are not alone. For Leigh Anne she made the right decision for her which in turn helped others as well.

Instead, the truth has given me a freedom I never dreamed of. ...
Through thick and thin true love never fails us.  It helps to heal, it helps to feel, it's there to support and to let you know that you are loved no matter what else.  Knox was supportive and loving and didn't let his past define him.  He truly loved Leigh Anne for who she was no matter what. Without this love Leigh Anne might have made different choices.


Great story about a harsh reality, second chances, hope, true friendship, support and love.

My Review...

Now, let's start with I LOVED Losing it so I was super excited to be able to read this book. In Losing it, Cade was a victim of unrequited love.  In this book he is still mourning the loss of the possibility of Bliss well until a firecracker in the form of Max rolls in and changes his world in every way possible. 

Cade is the 'perfect' boyfriend or really the 'perfect' everything.  If he can only be perfect than maybe he won't get hurt.


Max is the complete opposite tattooed, loud, outgoing and full of life with no regrets. Or so we think.


 Cade needs to move on and Max needs to hide who she really is so what better way than pretending to be a couple.  It is the perfect plan for both well..until feelings get involved. 
Now that emotions are involved their own personal demons are keeping them apart. At least Cade gets over his shit quick enough but Max argh!!!! I wanted to slap her for being so obtuse. Grrrrr.

Finding one's self and love have a funny way of creeping up on us when we least expect it.  Both are often what we think we don't want but are what we need. 


The instant ease between Max and Cade made their bond more warm and loving and felt real even though it was a really short time that they had been together. 
I loved this book and can't wait to find out more from the others with Kelsey's book which is coming out this October.

Book Boyfriend Monday - Jesse Walker

This week I think we need some southern charm and a huge heart therefore it can only be...

How did Jesse make the cut for book bf? Well...
