The Not-Outcast by Tijan Blog Tour #bookreview #romance #excerpt

The Not-Outcast and all-new emotional slow burn romance from New York Times bestselling author Tijan is available now!

Cutler Ryder was everything I wasn't.
He was the hockey star. I was an outcast.
He was best friends with my stepbrother, that same stepbrother who hated me.
His two parents loved him. My mom was a junkie. My dad barely knew me.

Years passed.
I got my life together.
Cut went onto NHL stardom.

Then there was a text.
I was drinking.
There was a party.
Cut was there...

I loved Cutler Ryder since the first moment I saw him.
The only problem? He never knew I existed.

Excerpt

“Stars. You made me meet them.”

I was still seeing them. His eyes. So smoldering.

He continued to stare at me, as if seeing me for the first time.

I tensed.

Maybe he was regretting this? Was my one-night stand a one-night finger bang instead?

I tried to stem the disappointment, but… Okay.

A girl had coping mechanisms. I could pull mine up, if I needed to. I was hoping I didn’t need to. I didn’t know how I’d handle that either. Then he must’ve made his decision.

He readjusted his hold on me, standing back from the door and his mouth twitched. “One rule.”

“Yeah?”

I was about to see stars again.

“Don’t call me dude again.”

  My The Not-Outcast Review . . .

Tijan is one of my favorite authors.  I love the way she writes.  All of her stories are so unique.  They break the mold in conventional written romance novels.   Every time I read something from Tijan I feel like I am experiencing the story along side the characters.

My guilty pleasure is sports romances and I wasn't sure what to expect from this one but after loving Teardrop Shot and Enemies I was all in not matter what.

This time around the book evolves around Cheyenne (Shy) and Cut.  Cheyenne is not your typical heroine at all and that is why I loved her so much more.  Too often within the romance genre the heroines are weak or insecure.  With Cheyenne she's human and trying to survive through life.  But with Cut she learns not just how to survive but how to thrive.

... Everyone has insecurities, but not believing something or not letting yourself live your fullest life because of them is what is dumb...
Besides Cut and Shy one of the best parts of the book is Cheyenne's relationship with her best friends Melanie and Sasha.  Their friendship and strength they give one another is everything.  I adored that Cut loved Cheyenne for her and never tried to change her or take her away from her girls.  He was all in with Shy being Shy and not changing her.  That's what we want from all our partners.  Someone to lift us up not tear us down.

"I love you because you have every reason to be angry at the world, and you're not.  You wake up smiling, and you stay smiling.  You'd choose laughter over anything, all day and everyday."

Reading this book you get to feel all of their struggles.  You get to root for Cheyenne to find her happiness when life gave her a different path at the beginning.  You get to fall in love with Cut's family whom are equally awesome.  There is so much goodness that comes along with this story.  It has all the feels and is totally worth a recommendation to pick up and devour,  this way we can all love Cut and Cheyenne.

I can not wait for more from this amazing author.  In the meantime go buy this book and fall in love.

5 Just be you thumbs up!
