My Review...

I was very curious about this book and I was in a bit of a book funk and it did the trick and perked me right up.

The story starts with Emerson who is known as the school slut by everyone including her self.

 She thought it was easier to be a slut than have a relationship that could potentially get her hurt. Huh! Not quite the most logical jump but hey who am I to judge.

 Now enter Jaxon who first meets Emerson with one of her walks of shame but that didn't stop Jax from noticing Emerson.

Jaxon is hot, troubled, tattooed, football player, possessive, and so loving. Too loving to a fault because he makes a bad choice thinking that he is helping which by the way he was totally NOT helping at all.

Now let's talk about Cole, Quinn and Jace. You really can't get better than them for friends and a new family. They are all awesome, loving and supportive and they all see Emerson for who she truly is, even though she can't see it.

With the love of Jaxon, Quinn, Cole and Jace the true Emerson finally appears and stays because finally she begins to love herself and realize a reality that was true instead of the false notions she beleived her life to be even though she was quick to judge and not listen to the truth.

This quality of hers and that fact that she ran instead of dealt with anything really urked me throughout.  At times she was so annoying like Keira from the Thoughtless Series.

The connection between the two is palpable and strong enough not to be denied.

There was a lot of pushing and pulling between the two. Some for the right reasons and most for the wrong reasons.

In the end you see why Emerson is the way she is and learn to accept her for who she is like she does for herself.  You also get to see how the fate and love is much stronger than fear and logic.

Thank goodness Jaxon blows through her walls because their love is beautiful and they bring only but the best in one another.

Great story about friendship, hope, loss, family, second chances and last but not least.....LOVE.

Jack McLachlan’s POV

Three. Long. Fucking. Months. That’s how long it’s been since I’ve seen Laurelyn. And I don’t think I can take another minute. I die a little more each day she isn’t in my life.

She’s been damn near impossible to find. Fate has worked against us every step of the way. The hoops Jim has jumped through for the smallest bit of information have been ridiculous. One step forward, two steps back—instead of the other way around. A criminal on the run would’ve been easier to find.

But I’ve finally found her. Laurelyn Paige Prescott—better known to the public by her stage name as Paige McLachlan—that’s the woman I’m here to see tonight.

I still smile when I think about her taking my name, but I can’t help but ponder why she’d need to use a stage name. She never mentioned using one before and it makes me wonder if something happened with the sperm donor. Or worse—maybe with Blake Phillips.

I enter the auditorium lobby and the thick crowd makes it difficult to push through. The Martin I’m carrying adds to my difficult navigation as I bump shoulders through the horde, so I have to apologize with each step.

I find my assigned seat. Because I’m a creature of habit, I’m happy when I see it’s in a dark corner. I sit and place the Martin by my feet. I’m nervous and adrenalized as evidenced by my rapidly beating heart. I’m about to see the woman I love walk out onto that stage.

I look at the time and see it’s only a minute until eight. My heart is pounding erratically, throbbing in my ears over the loud crowd. Finally, musicians begin filing onto the stage to take their places. That’s when I see her for the first time in three months. My Laurelyn. All the time and distance that separated us disappears upon finally seeing her face again.

She looks the same, yet different. Her hair is a little longer and darker. Her honey highlights are missing and she’s slimmer. She’s still beautiful as ever but doesn’t fit the image etched in my mind these last few months.

She’s wearing brown boots—the same ones she wore the first time I saw her—with stonewashed jeans and a strapless white top. Her bare shoulders make me desperate to touch her exposed skin. And kiss it. Her top is fitted below her breasts while the bottom flows loosely over her jeans. I picture them riding low on her hips so I have easy access to kiss her belly.

My Review...

First off! Let me just say that I think Louise is a genius when it comes to teen angst and coming into your own. With this book and the last, I think she has captured the pure essence of growing up and the drama of friends, family and relationships.

Now let's start with Rose for some reason she keeps getting herself in the middle of everything.

It starts to take a toll on her.

For her she is just trying to fit in without truly knowing herself. Now let's add Regina the school bitch

But we start to find out more about Regina this time and realize there is a reason for her being the way she is. Which only confuses the matter for Rose.  Now lets add Jamie back into the mix.

But Jamie is just as confused as Rose is but he might even be more unaware of it than she is.  He doesn't show too much emotion but he does show his stubborn and protective sides with Regina and Conrad.  He shows Rose this side by pushing her away. 

Now if this isn't enough try having your BFF and brother get together.

As much as near the end was frustrating it was also reality. There are so many possibilities still to come and also the art of communication if Jamie will put down his walls and let Rose in or at least just listen to her instead of ALWAYS jumping to conclusions on his own.

But in the end, it's about Rose and the growth of her and finally starting to find her OWN identity in a big world of bullshit called reality.

My Review...

I was needing a read that was not to heavy with a bit of heartbreak and this fit the bill perfectly for me.

It is about a girl who made mistakes and unfortuntaley was in the lime light so it made it so much worse.

And a boy with so much baggage and heart ache from the cards he was dealt.

For Violet Rae & Cole there connection was perfect right from the start even though Violet Rae kept putting her foot in her mouth.

Individually they didn't know that they needed hope, forgiveness, friendship and love but together that is what they got.

Together they found that they were stronger as a unit than individually and they both found love when and where they least expected it.

In the end I really did like this book.  A sweet story about family, friendship, loss, hope and love.

I was left with a few answers in this book about what really happened to Rae as it was alluded that there were pieces of the truth missing but I am hoping that more of the truth of her past will be made clear in the next couple of installments of the this series.
