Finding Bliss Blog Tour - #Review & #Giveaway

Tour Dates: July 22-27th

Title: Finding Bliss

Author:  Dina Silver

Release date: July 16, 2013

Age Group: Adult

Genre: Women’s Fiction

Book Description:

Chloe Carlyle has always longed for the perfect family.

Growing up with an alcoholic single mother, she has seen her share of heartbreak and disappointment, and is striving to build a new legacy for herself. After graduating from college, she takes a job working as a summer girl for the Reeds––a wealthy, accomplished family that personifies her American dream. Her summer takes an unexpected turn when the Reeds’ eldest son Tyler, the star quarterback for Notre Dame, shows up and turns her life upside down.

An ambitious young woman with a wry sense of humor, Chloe never imagined herself as the type to succumb to the looks and charms of the hometown hero, but she falls hard for Tyler, and is devastated when they part ways at the end of the summer. As she heads off to law school, Chloe tries to convince herself this was just a fling, but she can’t quite get over him. It’s not until Tyler contacts her out of the blue late one winter night that everything changes.

After doing everything in her power to build the perfect life, Chloe soon learns that there are things beyond her control. She must draw on inner reserves of strength as her life takes unpredictable—and sometimes heartbreaking—twists and turns, and she finds herself faced with decisions she never thought she’d have to make. Poignant, heartfelt, and emotional, Finding Bliss is a reminder that you don’t have to live a fairytale life in order to have a happy ending.

My Review...

So this is my first Dina Silver experience and I enjoyed the journey.

Chloe is the girl with sketchy past with the alcoholic mother but that only drives her more to be a super successful lawyer.  To achieve this goal she takes a part time job school babysitting.

Tyler who happened to go to the same school as Chloe as well as be the big brother of the kids that Chloe is babysitting and he also is the star in Chloe's fantasies of her potential 'better life'.

When Tyler meets Chloe there is a spark but not tons of chemistry but Chloe is so in love with the idea of being in love she makes Tyler to be so much more than he is.

In reality Tyler is Meh! Just ok. He may be good looking but he doesn't have much of a back bone nor a lot of strength and desire to be the best that he can be. So he listens to everyone else especially mommy and daddy's wishes to be the star football player and marry for money and status.

Chloe is a bit neurotic and really naive yet still endearing. However , she had a total of maybe 8 hours with Tyler and she thought they had this huge epic relationship.

While Chloe is away at school pining for Tyler she meets Cam who ends up being her rock and BFF.

With the spark between them, Tyler makes an effort for Chloe but an accident happens and it can either push them together or pull them apart.  In this cases it pushes them together but for Tyler it is more of complacency but with Chloe it is all her wishes coming true.

With the growth of their relationship I felt it was very complacent and predictable then they had trouble conceiving which rocks Chloe's world and not for the better.  She becomes obsessed with having a baby that she get tunnel vision and pushes everyone away.

As I was reading the book I was just about to get bored and then at like 82% I was... I did not see that coming. I should have but I didn't.  My heart fell into my stomach.

If I had Chloe's life I don't know if I would have made similar or different choices.

With Tyler I never really felt him. He couldn't commit or stand up for himself.

The ending I am still unsure if I loved it or hated it.

Shine Not Burn - #Review

Shine Not Burn

by
IT HAPPENED IN VEGAS.

I can't be held responsible. Things that happen there are supposed to stay there, right? Right? Yeeeah. Not so much.

Andie's just days away from tying the knot, but there's just ooooone little glitch. Apparently, she's already married. Or someone with her name is married to a guy out in Oregon of all places, and the courthouse won't issue her a marriage license until it's all cleared up. Tripping her way through cow pies and country songs to meet up with a man who gets around places on horseback is her very last idea of how to have a good time, but if she's going to get married, make partner at the firm, and have two point five kids before she's thirty-five, she needs to get to the bottom of this snafu and fix it quick ... before her fiance finds out and everything she's been working toward goes up in flames

My Review...

What is there not to like about a gorgeous cowboy with a huge heart. That's right Nothing.  I loved this book it was great.

After reading the beginning I was already hooked with the laughter.

"...nobody's got wood like a guy who works with stiffs all day...."

Once we meet Mack they have instant chemistry and passion.
"Don't play with my heart, Andie. Tell me you didn't bring me up here just to strip down to your gorgeous bits and then kick me out. I don't think my ego could take it. And Neither could my...other parts of me."
"It means that if I want to get lucky with you, I should just take the risk and tell you what's on my mind, because failing would be worse than never trying."

Then I was jolted awake with the reality of 2 years passing. What???

Andie's life plan I wanted to chuck out the window thank goodness for friends like Ruby and Candace who gave her a dose of tough love and let her know that her life plan was turning her into a bit of a monster.
"Just because a person is obsessed with the idea of something, it doesn't make it right or even good for them."

With a slap of reality and a mistake coming to fruition she is sent packing to Oregon to fix her past mistake of a moment of passion and love.

Mack knew what he wanted two years ago but a little case of oopsie daisy caused two years to pass with an ounce of bitterness to the reality of being rejected but love and fate are tricky bitches and through Andie being back in his path, this time he was not letting go.

The moment Andie steps into baker city, she starts to get some needed life lessons. At the same time the Mackenzie clan claims her and take her into their fold, well with the exception of the nut case of Hannah banana (what a whack job)

"...Even though Ian got hurt, it doesn't change the fact that lies are like acid. They eat everything away eventually -your integrity, your heart...your soul.  It's not worth it."
...It's a home - a place where a person could be herself, and surround herself with people who loved her and respected her and laughed with her.

With unconditional love that Andie has never received for the first time she wants to give up her security blanket for a chance of love.

I was mesmerized. He was branding my heart, showing me that he was going to love me whether I liked it or not and that I was his and no one else's.  I'd never had anyone insist on loving me before like this....
Is love worth the chance of happiness or security a tough choice for Andie but in the end I feel like it was the right choice because if she did not chose Mack I sure that would have kept his bed warm.

Axel (Corps Security #1) -# Review

Axel (Corps Security #1)

by
Note from the author--This book is intended for a mature reading audience and isn't suitable for younger readers. Brash language, sexual hotness, delectable alpha males, some violence and adult situations are all over this book--you have been warned.

Fate hasn’t always been friends with Isabelle West. In fact, fate has been a downright bitch.

Isabelle has learned the hard way how hard life can be when fate isn’t by your side. It can hand you dreams on silver platters, but it can snatch them right back and hand you nightmares. One thing Isabelle knew for sure fate was consistent with was taking away everything she ever loved.

For the last two years Isabelle has been slowly clearing the clouds of her past. Happiness is finally on the horizon. She has a thriving business, great friends, and her life back. All she has to do is jump over the last hurdle…her ex-husband.

When problems start causing her to fear her new life, and memories that are better left forgotten start rushing to the surface the last thing she needs is a ghost from her past to come knocking on her door.

Axel never thought he would look into the eyes of Isabelle West again, and he wasn’t sure he wanted to now. He’s carried his anger for so long he isn’t sure he can just turn it off, but when he is faced with protecting her and an unexpected desire to have her again, life gets a little more complicated.

How will Axel and Isabelle deal when all their cards are put on the table and everything they thought was true blows up in their faces?

Genre: Adult Contemporary with Alpha Male

My Review...

Well Kristen Ashley may have to share her crown as queen of the alpha males. As Harper Sloan also knows how to write about amazing Alpha males with soft hearts.

For Izzy and Axel they thought they had the perfect relationship that nothing could tear them apart even though Axel is going off with the Marines.  They have a plan to forever but reality can be a bitch sometimes especially with external factors going against them.

For Izzy thinking she has lost everything is at a low point and gets seduced by the idea of love and support but in truth she was dealt with a low blow and doesn't know how to get out of it until it is almost to late.

Once Izzy is given the chance to break free she has to start over but her new self is a weaker and broken version of the old Izzy (Isabelle). During this time she meets a new savior Greg while strengthening her bond with her bestie Dee.

"There is no way I am wearing that, Dee. Is there even a back on that thing?  And, and my vagina is seriously going to be playing peekaboo all night. There is no way, no way at all."

Either its fate or a small world but with her new friends becomes a new savior who also happens to be her past.

With lots of miscommunication and pent up hostility the truth finally comes out and new bonds are made and forgiveness and grieving is set forward.

"You idiot, what do you think I am doing? Standing here for shits and fucking giggles? NO, definitely not. I can't get into your stupid truck. If you would take a second to actually look, you would see this. Your little Napoleon Complex is cute, really it is, but it is also keeping from getting in the fucking truck!"

I love, love, love Axel. He is strong, loyal, huge, loving with the sweetest heart.

Their rekindled love is passionate, strong and beautiful. With this Izzy can become Izzy 2.O.

"You can't sit here and play what if.  It has taken me a long time to realize that what ifs will never change the past, Axel.  Right here and right now, you have to promise me that that we look forward. No more living with what we could have had. From this day on, we are the new Axel and Izzy."
Loved this book it had great friends, great chemistry and I can't wait to find out more from the boys of Corps Security.

Touching Melody Blog Tour - #Review & #Giveaway

Book & Author details:

Touching Melody by RaShelle Workman
Series: Forever First #1
Publication date:  June 2013
Genre: New Adult Contemporary

Synopsis:
Maddie Martin's first weekend at college is nothing like she's used to. It's wild, like the wilderness on which the University of Bellam Springs sits. Roped into going to a frat party, she literally runs into Kyle Hadley. The boy she's loved since she was nine. The boy she promised all of her firsts to. But that was before his father killed her parents.

Determined to stay away from him, she throws herself into her music. Practicing piano eases her heavy heart, calms the sadness, and pushes away images of Kyle's face.

Until it doesn't.

Her music professor asks her to play a duet for their annual Graduation Gala. Doing so means she'll be assured another full ride scholarship. It's an opportunity she can't pass up.

But Kyle is the other half of the duet. And that means hours and hours of practicing.

Days and months of seclusion - just the two of them. And it's more than just music. It's passion like Maddie never believed was possible.

The inevitable happens. She falls in love with him all over again.

But, will loving him be enough to erase all the hate in her heart for his father? Can she look at him, and not see the evil in his family tree?

And maybe it's all a set up. Maybe Kyle is only pretending to care so he can finish what his father started, and kill her too.

My Review...

Here is a story about first loves, first everything, loss,  denial and forgiveness

Maddie and Kyle sitting in a tree... (You get the drift. Childhood friends and first loves)

Then Holy shit tragedy happens and Maddie moves away with her controlling yet still loving aunt and uncle.

The whole time Maddie can't stop thinking about Kyle but because of the tragedy has vowed to not have him in her life.  Of course without telling him why and Girrrrrl don't you know assuming just makes an ass of u and me.

However, the whole time Kyle is still missing Maddie and is lost and confused but that did not stop him from being a wee bit of a slut (so not a lot of firsts left for Maddie. Oops) But his letters. Gah! What a friggin' sweetheart.

Fate and soulmates can be tricky buggers and Maddie and Kyle are forced to know each other again.  With more mis communication and yes more assumptions (girl did you not learn anything the first time), suspense and did not see that coming moments make a bumpy journey for Kyle and Maddie.

Cute story with loads of potential but I just didn't hundred percent connect with the story.

3 Soul mate loving thumbs up!

Book Boyfriend Monday - David Ferris

This week I think we need a little loving from a Rock God so this week's Book Boyfriend Monday is... David Ferris from Lick (Stage Dive #1) by Kylie Scott

Why oh why did David make the cut...

  1. He is a musical rock god and for God's sake he writes love songs, what is not to love.
  2. He is a tortured misunderstood sentimental man
  3. When he finds what he wants he just goes for it

Some examples of why David stole my heart:
"Am I now? They're love songs, baby. Love isn't always smooth or straightforward. It can be messy and painful," he said. "Doesn't mean it isn't still the most incredible thing that can ever happen to you. Doesn't mean I'm not crazy about you."

"I care about your periods, Ev. Honest to fuck I do." he kissed my cheeks, my forehead.  "Thanks." "But right now I wanna know how you feel about us going bare?"

"But I married you, Evelyn, because you made sense to me. We make sense.  We're a whole lot better together than apart. You notice that?"

"Hi. Sorry to interrupt, folks. My name's David Ferris and I'd like to play a song for my wife, Evelyn. Hope you don't mind."...."She's a Portland girl. So I guess that makes us in-lawy. Be gentle with me, yeah?"
All quotes and phrases from Lick (Stage Dive #1) by Kylie Scott

Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.

Evelyn Thomas’s plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure as hell never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.

One thing is for certain, being married to rock and roll’s favourite son is sure to be a wild ride

    • My Reviews....

      Seducing Cinderella by Gina Maxwell

I didn't know what to expect from this book but I was pleasantly surprised with it. I loved Reid and Lucie's characters. I thought their chemistry was good even though it was misguided which is what made it work.

For Reid he is on a mission to succeed at almost any cost but at the same time is denying his true passion. To get him to his goal, he needs the help of his best friend's little sister.

For Lucie who may have made some misguided decisions in the past is determined to be a different person.

Together they need each other. Reid needs Lucie to physically make him better and for Lucie she needs Reid to help her land a man that she has been crushing over who happens to never notice her.

However, what they want and what they need are two different things.

What they are together is explosive and loving - a perfect match.

The transformation of both of them was exciting and a pleasure to see. It is always great to see the blossoming of a character to their full potential and for them to actually see themselves as they truly are.

I recommend this book and give it 4 thumbs up!

      Lauren

Wrong Bed, Right Guy by Katee Robert

This book was a quick short read and I quite liked it.

Gabe the misunderstood bad boy who randomly meets Elle who is in love with idea of a relationship with the perfect guy.  Due to a critical error Elle ends up in the wrong place with the wrong guy.  Or is it the wrong guy

For Elle what she thinks she wants and what she gets are two different things but once she gets her head out of her ass she starts to see things differently.

The connection between Gabe and Elle were good. It was a bit typical with their own issues getting in the way and causing a miscommunication but otherwise a cute read.

Recommend this book and give it 3.5 thumbs up!

      Lauren
