About FORTUNATE SON:

Ry Archer and Bowe Keller are as different as night and day. But that doesn't stop the childhood frenemies from reconnecting whenever one of them needs some help tackling any of life's major puzzles, like figuring out why getting what you always thought you wanted isn't living up to all the hype. They might constantly rub each other the wrong way (except for the times when they rub each other the really-really right way), but there is no denying they've always made one hell of a great team. They manage to balance each other out… when they aren't driving each other crazy.

For Ry, he thought he had the perfect girl, the one who was going to run headfirst into a methodically planned future. He was going to marry young and have the same kind of legendary, life-long romance his parents did… or so he believed. His girl was going to stand by his side as he chased his dream of being a professional football player all the way to the NFL.

He was wrong.

Now, Ry's gotta figure out the difference between a bruised heart and a broken one, and the only person who can teach him the difference is Bowe.

Bowe always felt like she had to run before she learned to walk to keep up with her father's musical legacy. He's her hero, and she wants nothing more than to make him proud. Bowe's about to figure out that maybe she wasn't meant to be in a rock and roll band and that it is possible she let her father's success cloud her idea of what making music should be. Bowe needs to find her own path to fame, and there's a good chance she wouldn't be brave enough or bold enough to start over if Ry Archer hadn't charmed his way back into her life when she least expected it.

Some days they're enemies. Other days they're lovers. For a while, they were strangers. But now, it feels more like they might have always been soulmates.

Eventually, Ry and Bowe realize that letting go of an old dream and creating a new one is much easier to do with the right person by your side.

Part1 of a spin off series

My Fortunate Son Review . . .

Gah! I loved the Marked Men series so when I found out there was going to be a spin off series on the children, I jumped at the opportunity to review and read this book.  My real complaint is that I wished I had enough time that I could have re-read the Marked Men and Saints of Denver series to truly get immersed back into that world.   Since it has been so long since I read that series it took me a bit to get whom everyone was and whom belonged to whom.  Though, thankfully there is a handy family tree to help sort that all out. Sadly my kindle couldn't enlarge it enough so I could read it properly but eventually I will pull it up on my computer so I can get my whole head wrapped around all the kids and all the possibilities of romances in this generation.  Squee!!!!

I loved that we started with Rule's oldest child because with Rule is where this whole world started.  And I adored seeing Rule as a father and his struggles.  The fact that they are all still dealing with the loss of Remy and how profound that whole story line is.

Even though this book is technically a spin off it is set up that it can be read as a standalone, but to get the whole experience I think its best having read at least the Marked Men series but it is not necessary.

I don't think I ever would have put Ry and Bowe together but Jay has a knack for putting the most unlikely couples together and having them work perfectly.

Ry and Bowe felt real and you got to feel their challenges of life and growing up along side them.  Their chemistry was great and I loved that they bring the honesty out of each other.

"No one will be the same when you wake up.  When you almost lose someone you love, it changes who you are.  It makes you evaluate the things that are really important and what you can live without. . . ."
I also love seeing each new character and their characteristics of the parents shining through each kid.

Fortunate Son, brings all the feels from hope to heartache and I can not wait for more from the Forever Marked series.  Thank you Jay Crownover for bringing us back into this world.

4 Forever Marked thumbs up!
