My After the Climb Review . . .
When the Pandemic first hit last year After the Climb was the perfect reprieve. It was also extra special because as a reader we felt part of the book they way KA did her book via feedback from social media. When I first read it I loved it and it couldn't wait for more. Then I listened to it on audible and again the perfect reprieve. Now fast forward a year and KA is just about to release book 2 so there is a re-release of After the Climb with bonus content. SIGN ME UP!!!!!
I am such a huge fan of KA and she never seems to disappoint. Sure I love some books more than others but they all hit me in the feels. She always has strong kick ass heroines and super alpha males. Yes, Please!!!
In After the Climb, we had three best friends and one case of unrequited love. Those three became two plus one. Then only two. But the wrong two remained.
Imogen 'Genny' Swan and Duncan 'Bowie' Holloway have not talked in 28 years. Until the death of Corey Szabo brings them back to contact. This contact is the missing piece for both of them and it could have also been like pulling off a scab. It could have gone either direction.
With the bonus material we actually now get Corey's POV in some
aspects. I'm not sure if made me feel sorry for Corey or hate him more
for what he did.
From the beginning I loved both Genny and Bowie, and it was instantaneously obvious how they were meant for each other. Don't get me wrong. EVERY character in this book was written so well. You couldn't stop from loving them or appropriately hating them if needed.
This story had a second chance love as well as melded family dynamics which were written so well. I absolutely loved all the kids, Chloe, Sasha, Matt, Sullivan, Gage and Hale. And of course all the animals. Everyone of them was written so well.
There are so many more amazing possibilities for this series and I can NOT friggin' wait. Thankfully up next is Chloe and I am dying to find out more about her and Judge.
~Chloe Pierce will never leave a place the same as it was before she arrived there. It's a singular gift.~
4.5 Worth the Climb thumbs up!
