Something in the Way He Needs (Family #1)
A Book in the Family Series
Police captain Asher Penaz’s staunch professionalism bleeds into his home life, down to his neatly pressed attire and spartan apartment. He enjoys being the man in charge, and leather bars satisfy his need for dominance—so his sudden and powerful attraction to the lighthearted, free-spirited Daniel Tover throws him for a loop. In his entire life, Daniel has never gotten what he needs, so he moves to the next place, the next job, the next attempt to find something worth staying for, always landing at the top of his game, but never feeling like he belongs.
The chemistry between Asher and Daniel sizzles, so Asher invites Daniel home. As both men struggle to learn themselves while getting to know each other, the lines of desire and control blur. With all that fire comes the risk of getting burned. But if Daniel and Asher can walk through the flames together, they might find what they desperately need.

My Something in the Way He Needs Review ...
Let's
start with why I adore Cardeno C. The stories are always a soft build
immersed with heat and heart. In this book, which is the first of the
family series we have Asher who is a dominant hard nosed cop. He doesn't
want a relationship but he loves the pleasure of a submissive.
On
a weekend long bachelor trip in Vegas for his best friend Ollie. He
comes across a young man who bumbles his way through Vegas. He
immediately starts to follow this young man as he's greatly intrigued.
Plus there's something about him that makes him want to protect this
man.
Daniel's a free spirit and likes to hide a part of himself
with his large clothes and not really looking at where he's going, so
when he literally stumbles across a large hunk of a man he's immediately
smitten to this dominant man.
The connection is pretty instant
with these two and it only grows when Ash finds out this man is Daniel,
his best friend's little brother. Daniel doesn't do one night stands, so
if Ash wants him he has to change his ways. Which he does to get a
chance with Daniel. After the weekend Ash moves Daniel in and their
relationship explodes but this is new for Ash so feelings like jealousy
and love are a hard pill for him to swallow. It takes work, change and
commitment for this relationship to work for these men, but the reward
is everything.
This book has a great feel to it. You get to see the growth
of Asher and the bond grow between these two which was sweet yet still
spicy. As always Cardeno C. knows how to infuse so much emotion and
heart into these stories that you are reeled in from beginning to end
routing for the couple.
I first read this book in 2014 so when I got the chance to listen to the audible version I jumped at the opportunity. I now have listened to a couple of stories narrated by Ezekiel Robison and I quite like his voice with his story telling. For some reason I prefer his narration voice over his character voices at times. Especially where the voice of Ollie comes into play. This was my only down fall with the narration. Ollie sounded like an complete oaf, which is different then the Ollie I pictured when I first read the story. Besides Ollie's voice I was able to get lost into the story while I listened to this great story about love, need and rightness.
4 Needy Thumbs up!
