Part of a Standalone series
My Chaos Bound Review . . .
This series just keeps getting better and better. Technically this book is part of a series but they all can be read as a standalone. Since, it has been awhile that I read the previous books in this series some of the details have been lost. However, the way it's written you don't feel like you are lost when reading this book, instead you can fall in love with only one book of the series or the whole series.
Holt 'T-Rex' Savage lived and breathed the MC brotherhood. So much so, when given the chance to save one of his brother's old ladies he volunteered himself instead to be tortured. Of course he also assumed his MC would save him lickety split, but instead he was left with the Black Jacks for three months to be tortured by the insane Viper who has been a pain in the ass for the Sinners Tribe MC.
It was hard enough to survive physically after being tortured but surviving psychologically is another story. In what seems to be his last hour, Naiya Kelly gets thrown into the Dungeon with him and ends up being his saving grace.
"People don't hurt together. They hurt alone."
Now, that Naiya and Holt have escaped they are on the run with Holt having only revenge fueling his fire. Sweet yet geeky, cute yet strong Naiya helps soften the revenge focused Holt.
Naiya's life has been negatively impacted by Viper and the Black Jacks all of her life. She too wants revenge of Viper but thought she had gotten over that desire. However, now on the run with Holt she starts to realize that she's just been existing not living and the only way to move forward is have Holt's back with his need.
"There nothing wrong with hiding," she said. "There is if it means you're not living." He released her and stepped away. "You're so focused on getting your life in order, you're forgetting to live it. . . ."
I loved Naiya's strength and how Naiya and Holt complemented each other.
She needed protecting but she was no victim. She was broken but needed no glue.
As Naiya and T-rex are navigating their way through this vengeful path they have to work together or things will fall apart. When forced to improvise these two create tons of fire and sass, which to the MC men is only a turn on.
" . . . And now you showed me a side of you that makes it so I will not be leaving you again. You showed me your fire. Moth to a flame, darlin'. I'm sticking around even if I get burned."
I loved Holt and his sexy caveman ways. He was gritty, raw, dark, yet sweet, edgy and loveable.
"You're mine, and I'm not going to let you go. Whatever I have to do, whatever it takes, however long . . . If you can't live the biker life after I'm done with Viper, then I won't live it. But you can't leave me. I am nothing, Naiya , if I don't have you."
Naiya doesn't want to be part of the MC world and for Holt that's all he knows. How can they find balance when their worlds are so far apart.
"I have a feeling even if I did leave, you'd follow me."
"To the ends of the earth."
Naiya wants to be Holt's equal but Holt has a hard time pulling Naiya into his world and all that comes with it.
"You will never be in the way, darlin'. You are the way."
You speak too soon Holt, because like many macho men he wants to save his lover from the pain of his world. So instead of communicating with his partner he chooses to set her free. Silly men. That is not the way to make things work when you have a strong woman by your side. Even though Holt loses is marbles for awhile, he quickly learns what is most important to him.
"You beat him up, too?"
"Anyone who hurts you. Anyone who touches you. Anyone who makes you scared. Anyone who makes you cry. I'll rip out their hearts, break their bones, and drown in their fucking blood to keep you safe."
"That's kind of romantic in a terryifying, morbid, ruthless, outlaw-biker kinda way," Ally said. "Doug just says 'love ya, babe' or 'keep safe.'"
Before the torture, where you found T-Rex is where you found Tank, T-Rex's best friend. Even though all the Sinners thought T-Rex was dead, Tank KNEW that T-Rex was still alive, but since he was a junior patch the others didn't truly listen to Tank.
"He needs you both. She's his heart, but you're part of his soul. He waited here as long as he could. Even when they drive away, he was looking over his shoulder for you."
This book was a romance and a bromance. Loved it. Without T-Rex by Tank's side he has to wade through life alone which causes him to not make the best decisions. Thankfully T-Rex is back and now Tank has to find out how it fits into Holt's new life.
There are so many things that I loved about this book. Plus it has felt like forever since I really really really loved a book. It was dark and gritty. It was sexy and sweet. I love all the characters within this series and I can't wait for more from this series and this author. There are so many different elements that made up this story: suspense, drama, loss, hope, love, chemistry, friendship, revenge, bromance, brotherhood, and family. All this combined is what made it such a great story. Around each corner something else was happening causing the story to envelope me whole with all the twists and turns. Naiya and Holt made the perfect couple and I loved every moment of the evolution of their relationship. I was surprised but happy with how the story ended but it fit the story perfectly.
Can't wait for more from this series and hopefully we get Tank's story soon.
