About REMEMBERING EVERLY

After two years in a coma, August Kinkaid has forgotten the darkness in his past. But his past hasn't forgotten him. His beautiful former fiancée, Everly, remembers every tumultuous moment of their stormy relationship. The sizzling passion. The web of lies. And the terrible secret Everly's been hiding since her last fateful night with August.
Now the truth is out and August remembers everything. As his long-buried memories come flooding back, he begins to understand why Everly would want to move on with her life. Why she would give her heart to another man. And why August should try to forget her once and for all. But he can't give up on the only woman he's ever loved. Even if he has to reopen old wounds--and face the darkest demons of his past--August will do whatever it takes for a second chance with Everly. He let her slip away once. He's not about to spend the rest of his life remembering Everly when he could be holding her in his arms forever . . .

My Remembering Everly Review . . .

After Forgetting August I couldn't wait to find out how this story ended.  Unfortunately since it was a bit of time between the two I forgot many details of Forgetting August leaving me a tiny bit lost in the beginning of this book.  After I got my bearings back I was sucked back into the story.

At the end of Forgetting August, Everly decided to leave August from the fear that what August was before will come back and August didn't stop her.   What we find out in this story is the why's of August past and present behavior.   Even though he loves Everly more than anything he's trying to do what's right for her.

After leaving August for the second time, Everly walks right back into the arms of Ryan for the second time and this time she goes full steam ahead with that choice.
Was I marrying Ryan for the right reasons?  (Don't even get me started on this decision.  Argh! )
As Everly is making probably the worst decision of her life she finally starts to question the motives of August.
"He didn't love me enough to stay."
"Or maybe he loved you enough to go?"
Now that she's finally seeing the light, Everly has to start finding who she is and what she wants.
" . . . So do us all a favor, take the time to decide what you want.  For real this time."
After finally realizing what she needs Everly starts to come into her own and get the back bone she's always needed, especially where August is concerned.  August has an innate need to protect Everly but he can't do it alone when his fears are coming to the forefront no matter what he tries to do.
"Because if there's one thing that's remained the same, it's your damned need to protect everyone-regardless of how it affects you, us, or anything else.  As long as we're all safe, it doesn't matter-isn't that right, August?"
I really did love August and Everly together but sadly I didn't love some of their decisions.  I understood them but it didn't make the story for me, if anything it had the opposite effect.  I liked the idea of this story so much but I have to admit that the ONLY thing I didn't love was Everly going back and forth between Ryan and August. But sadly that was a big part of the book.  I understood that she couldn't be alone, I truly did, but it was hard to read the train wreck of her decisions.  Everly and August are supposed to be this big epic couple of soulmates but Everly was quick to jump back and forth between two men for someone who was soulmates with one of them.   This part of the story unfortunately made me disconnect a bit causing me not to love the story as much as I could have.   Her constantly going back to Ryan to me diminished the profoundness of her and August.

Thankfully Everly gets her head on straight but sadly never really spends time by herself to truly realize who she is by herself.  When you can truly love yourself and can be by yourself it helps relationship have a much stronger foundation.  I absolutely LOVED the idea of this duet.  Loved it! But Everly weakened my love for the actual story.  This is just my opinion on Everly because I KNOW that this particular character trait that didn't resonate well with me, WILL resonate well with others causing a totally different reading experience.

3.5 Can Love be enough thumbs up!

thumbs upthumbs upthumbs up . 5
