Wingman rule number one: don’t fall for a client.
After a career-ending accident, former NFL recruit Ian
Hunter is back on campus—and he’s ready to get his new game on. As one of the
masterminds behind Wingmen, Inc., a successful and secretive word-of-mouth
dating service, he’s putting his extensive skills with women to work for the
lovelorn. But when Blake Olson requests the services of Wingmen, Inc., Ian may
have landed his most hopeless client yet.
From her frumpy athletic gear to her unfortunate choice of
footwear, Blake is going to need a miracle if she wants to land her crush. At
least with a professional matchmaker by her side she has a fighting chance. Ian
knows that his advice and a makeover can turn Blake into another successful
match. But as Blake begins the transformation from hot mess to smokin’ hot, Ian
realizes he’s in danger of breaking his cardinal rule…

My The Matchmaker's Playbook Review . . .
First off, I'm a huge fan of Rachel Van Dyken and this is another great book delivered by her. Second, I adore Male POV's and Ian was quite the character. Third, how can you not like books when the 'player' gets played or in this case tamed.
Ian Hunter had it all. NFL contract. A huge selection of wanting woman. But with one devastating yet heroic accident he lost his dream. Now back at college he starts to channel his ambition into a business called Wingmen Inc., where Ian and his best friend Lex help coach insecure woman to get the men they like from a far. This business is super successful do mostly to all the rules Ian lays out. Rules on how to get the man and rules within the contract.
The whole book minus the epilogue is done from Ian's POV and it's awesome. We get to see in the mind of men from the POV of men and how they play the game of love. Ian's POV was a refreshing view and the banter between him and his friends is hilarious.
Ian has always loved the variety but there is something about Blake that makes him question all his present choices and if he's good enough for her?
I loved the relationship between Blake and Ian, which led me in the wait for Lex and I'm hoping Gabi's story next. It can't come soon enough. This book was light, fun, sexy and refreshing. From the moment I started the book I couldn't put it down as I loved my foray into Ian's mind and his journey to love. It's not always easy when you don't have your own love coach to get you through but Ian fumbled his way into Blake's heart.
Fun Story. Great Couple. Great anticipation for book two. Great banter.
4 We all need a love coach thumbs up!

I let out an irritated sigh as I reached for her hand and gripped it. Clammy fingers. A personal favorite, said no man ever. When he meets Blake Olsen its the first time that he wants to break the rules. But a contract is a contract so even though he may be have new feelings for a client, she's still a client. Blake has always had a crush on her old friend but he doesn't seem to notice her more than a friend. Desperate to get his attention she hires Wingmen Inc. but she never expected to fall for her Love Coach.
"You like her," he said. "I also like yogurt. You expect me to stick my penis in that too?"Ian tries to do the right thing but not before he completely falls for Blake, but when stats tell you that you aren't a good match, what are you supposed to do? For Ian, he makes a shit decision trying to do the right thing but you can't compute chemistry into any equation. So you might be good on paper but have zero chemistry or vice versa, but for Ian he had to learn the hard way that he too deserves more than his original dream.
I loved the relationship between Blake and Ian, which led me in the wait for Lex and I'm hoping Gabi's story next. It can't come soon enough. This book was light, fun, sexy and refreshing.
