Former Navy SEAL Axel Blaze lives a solitary life. He doesn't do emotions, and he doesn't do babysitting. Used to being on his own, his job consists of Wetwork (a charming term coined by the KGB) for his former Master Chief, Mac. When an out-of-the-ordinary job lands on his doorstep, Axel heads down a path that includes a famous heavy metal rock band and one quiet, vulnerable, guitar-shredding virtuoso named Gareth Wolf.
Gareth Wolf's life changed in an instant when a car he was a passenger in crashed, hurting his brother's best friend and the band's lead guitarist. They created the band, Skull Blasters, as kids. Gareth had always been happy in the background, playing roadie. With the lead guitarist's injury, Gareth is suddenly thrust into the limelight and into a frenzied life he never imagined for himself. Finally fed up with living a lie, Gareth comes out as gay in a newspaper interview and finds himself in the bulls-eye of a crazed stalker. Somebody wants Gareth hurt - or worse - and Mac has been hired to be sure that doesn't happen. Babysitting duty is NOT Axel's strong suit, but Mac won't be budged.
Enter Axel Blaze.
Against his better judgment, the big man takes the job to protect the shy musician. The more time he spends with Gareth Wolf, the more he admires the man. Where's a simple assassination when you need one? The situation becomes more volatile for each man as the attempts on Gareth escalate just as Axel finds himself falling for the quiet lead guitarist.
Strong, funny, smart-ass -- and kinda sweet Axel is everything Gareth has ever wanted in a man. Too bad he's off limits. As the stalker grows bolder, Gareth and Axel move closer emotionally - but is it too late? All Axel knows is that they don't stand a chance if he can't find the maniac trying to kill the man he's come to care about. A lot.
Everyone knows that relationships that begin in pressured or volatile situations eventually fizzle out.
Or do they?

On the advice of a friend, Sandy dipped her toes into the world of M/M Romance. Sandy takes the writing seriously and has had countless conversations with gay men as well as hours of research. She's been involved with the military in one way or another for over twenty years, and has a great deal of respect for our men in uniform. She's traveled the world, but has finally returned to Arizona.

Part 1 of a new series
My Fret Review . . .
I gotta admit that this my first Sandrine Gasq-Dion book and it won't be my last. I adored it. How can you go wrong with a heavy metal gay band. Well suppposingly, only one is gay but we all know that that won't be the case for this band. As there are many curious minds a brewing.
Gareth Wolf is tired of living a lie, so he finally makes the leap and comes out to the public. Not all are happy with this revolution, causing death threats to wee Gareth.
Axel Blaze, doesn't to commitment or relationships, as he doesn't have the time or emotions for that. He goes in and gets out. It's easier and cleaner that way. Normally he's a mercenary but takes on a babysitting gig for a rock star who's getting death threats. As a fellow gay man he takes heart to this situation.
Gareth's NOT happy with having a new babysitter to protect him, but it doesn't stop him from drooling at this suppposingly straight man. Axel's instantly attracted to Gareth but doesn't mix business with pleasure, as well as he thinks Gareth could do better than a hired gun.
Thankfully Axel's there to protect Gareth as these threats are becoming more and more real. Axel may be there to protect Gareth but no one's there to protect his heart. With each attack the two get closer and closer causing Axel to open up and let Gareth know that the attraction is reciprocal.
Well, holy tight ass, Batman. Gareth was a man-virgin. The devil on my shoulder reared its ugly head to encourage me, as the angel slapped my rising prick.
Gareth and Axel try to deny each other but can't. Their bond is sweet and sexy, but Axel wants to keep their relationship from progressing until they find the person tying to kill Gareth, and for the tour to be over. Axel has a hunch on who the person of interest is, and I agree because I had the same hunch. (P.S. We were both right.) Finally, the tour is over and the person is caught, we should get a quick HEA. But nope, since this is so new to both of them Axel needs to realize if these feelings happened because of their close proximity to each other or are their feelings real.
"I love you, Gareth."
"I love you, too-Lurch."
I adored these two together. They were quirky, sweet and complete opposites, but together they worked. This book had a great balance of suspense and romance.
After I read this will I read another book from this author? Definitely. Will I continue with this series? Absolutely I can't wait for Jinx's story. Favorite part? The combo of Gareth and Axel. Least favorite? Don't have one, as I adored it all.
Cute, fun read with a great MM couple.
