High finance and a sizzling office affair raise desire and passion to the boiling point in Virna DePaul’s seductive new contemporary romance—perfect for fans of Carly Phillips, Lori Foster, and Molly O’Keefe.

Cara Michal has had to fight every step of the way to earn her place in the glittering seven-figure world of Wall Street. Years ago her hardworking father, a small-time investment adviser, was humiliated and wrongfully accused of fraud. Now Cara is at the top of her game, trying to support not only herself but her mother and brother. The occasional night out dancing soothes Cara’s soul, even as a bitter need for revenge against the man who destroyed her father makes inner peace elusive.

Then, in a moment of heat, Cara kisses a sexy stranger at a party—only later to discover that the man is Branden Duke, her new boss, an infamous operator with a wicked reputation in bed and on the Street. Branden is a man who seemingly has it all—except a woman who connects with him on a physical and emotional level. Now that he’s found Cara, he’s not sure he can let her go, even if he should.

In spite of herself, Cara is drawn to this charismatic guy. He is a challenge like none she has ever faced in her life. Their passion for each other is unquenchable, surprising them both with its ferocity. Even as Cara wonders if she can trust this man with her heart and soul, the ecstasy of their love cannot be denied. But when the past threatens the present, the two are faced with a truth from which they may never recover.

My Filthy Rich Review . . .

I have previously read Virna DePaul so I was excited for this one but sadly I was left a bit underwhelmed after read it.

I liked the premise of the book as it had huge potential but the actual story fell flat leaving me with that meh feeling.  The sex scenes were decent, the hero was pretty good but the heroine ugh! She was one of those heroines that I despise a bit.  She was very stubborn, which could have been annoying enough but no she had to also be one who pushes away the hero within this story then shocked when they listen to her and don't do what she really wanted which was the opposite to what she asked for. Now for the cherry on top add a shit load of indecisiveness and a runner which gives you a heroine that leaves you wanting so much more.

~ It looked like his promise to see her later had been quickly forgotten.~ (Yep even though she asked him not to come.  Ugh)

"No, I'm used to taking care of these things by myself.  I want to keep it that way. I have to keep it that way." (Insert rolled eyes here)

~ Or the fact that he'd called her his woman.  Was she his?  But she couldn't be.~ (Argh! They only spend every waking non working time together but she's surprised that its more? Wtf? )

" . . . You're running scared."( Why must heroines do this? Why? I so prefer strong fierce heroines than this type)

Cara Michal is working on wall street to help support her family after a scandal that devastates her family.  For her normal life it consists of work and her family.  With the help of her friend she finally goes to a work party and lets loose with a mystery man, to only find out that this mystery man is her new boss billionaire, Branden Duke.

Branden tries to stay away from Cara as he doesn't want to mix pleasure with business.  Not only for that reason but also because he has loads of secrets, but that reserve doesn't last long. Cara as well gave in almost immediately but went to her go to annoying heroine characteristics almost immediately causing me to have repetitive eye rolling going on.

While Cara was being wishy washy, Brendan was being alpha like and trying to protect her when a some what random stalker appears.  But is he after Cara or Branden?  Only time will tell. As the story progresses we find out more about the stalker but are left going 'huh. that was a bit random'.

This was one of those story that was pretty easy to read because it was filled with filler fluff intermixed with some erotic moments but it was also a bit unforgettable once its done.  Did I like it?  Meh and no.  Did I like Brendan?  For the most part yes.  Did I like Cara?  I liked the idea of her than actually her.  Will I remember this story in the future?  Probably not, since its already vague and I just read it a few days ago.  Will I read more from Virna?  Yes, I don't tend to stop after not liking one book.

2 Underwhelmed Thumbs up!
