Status Update (#gaymers #1)

by

Adrian Gottlieb is winning at life. He's a successful video game designer with everything a man could ask for, including a warm comfy ride to Denver and a date for his sister's wedding. But he finds himself in need of a total reboot when he's left stranded at a snowy campground in Utah. Holiday plans? Epic fail.

That is until Noah Walters offers him shelter for the night and a reluctant cross-country ride. Nothing about the ultraconservative geoarchaeologist should attract Adrian, but once he discovers Noah's hidden love for video games, the two connect on a new level. Soon, a quiet but undeniable chemistry sparks.

Something doesn't add up, though. As the miles accumulate and time runs out, Noah must face the most difficult choice of his life. Meanwhile, Adrian must decide whether he's ready to level up. Is their relationship status worth fighting for, or has this game ended before it's even begun?

Part 1 in a new series

My Status Quo Review . . .

I absolutely adore Annabeth Albert and her mm romance story telling.  Every single story that I have read has had that sweet factor that you can't but help and fall for the main characters.  This time around we have quirky but loveable Noah and confident and out there but beats to his own drum Adrian.
"We both know you wouldn't have tried innuendo before you discovered my . . . literary inclinations."
"Your literary inclinations?  That might be the cutest thing I've ever heard."

Noah is a professor at a very Christian college where he wants to make tenure at.  To do this he has to keep to the college's moral code which for the most part Noah is okay with as he's living in internal conflict already.

Adrian is living proud but always feels like a failure to his family even though he's a successful game programmer, and he hides behind long distance relationships to keep himself from being hurt.   While on a road trip with his latest distance boyfriend he gets ditched and has to rely on fellow RV park resident Noah.

Noah is intrigued by Adrian but wants to keep him a hands reach so he doesn't get tempted.  But Adrian's flirty nature and at ease personality has Noah caving in.   This book is one of those stories that's not super deep but has a heart felt message within the story and is super sweet.  For both they have to deal with their own inner conflicts if they want any sort of happiness within themselves and together.

" . . . Don't be sorry about ruining my Christmas.  Be sorry about ruining your life."

Their journey is heartfelt and sweet and I can't wait for more from this author and this series.

4 Heartfelt & Quirky yet sweet thumbs up!
