One Night (Only You #1)

by

When she lost it all, Jess decided to cope by living a lie.

But you can’t keep on pretending forever…

Twenty-one-year-old Jess used to have everything—a loyal best friend, a boyfriend she loved, and a future that was right on track. But in a single night, her whole world changed.

Now, Jess lives for the impersonal connection of drunken hook-ups and to-go coffee cups in the morning. All she needs is one night to pretend everything is fine…until she meets Adam.

Thanks to a sports injury, gorgeous, charming basketball star Adam Carson is stuck in physical therapy at the hospital where Jess interns—giving her the perfect opportunity to see his sweet, considerate nature and making her realize that maybe she does want something more.

But while Adam might be the best thing that’s happened to Jess in a long time, letting him past her carefully constructed walls means letting him know what happened...and why he'd never want her for more than one night.

Includes a preview of the upcoming Only You novel, One Life

My One Night Review ...

This was my first A.J. Pine and it won't be my last.

Jess is broken.  Very very broken.   She's trying to survive the best way she can by running when things get to tough.  It's her only coping mechanism otherwise she breaks even more.

Adam has been hurt but the only thing that keeps him going is basketball so when there is chance that he may lose that as well, he breaks a bit too.

A chance meeting and a spark of hope for these broken two is all it takes to change their lives.  At first they become friends because that's all Jess can give but that doesn't stop them from falling for each other.

As barriers start to drop Jess starts to let people in her selfish bubble.  Normally I'm not a fan of selfish girls but for Jess you understand why she's so clueless and selfish.  For her she's barely coping and her problems fill bigger then everything else, which causes her not to see anything else around her.

Thankfully between Adam, her feisty roommate and the vampire diaries she comes out of her shell and opens her heart but once the truth and past come to the forefront she breaks more which causes her to run even faster and farther.

" Give the people who love you a chance.  Give yourself a chance.  Stop Running."

To move forward she has to face the hard truths of her past and start to move on.  She had to grow up to fast with her personal devastation but she has to learn that no one has control of their future.  She just has to buck up and live each day to the fullest and accept and deserve love. Especially when it comes from someone so understanding and loving as Adam.   His love breaks your heart.  He wants to love Jess so much but can his heart take anymore blows before he puts up his own barriers.

Jess's story is a tough story especially for any girl that has to go through that so young, but with this tough life expereince it can only make her stronger and better.   I adored Adam and was quite smitten with this story.  It was cute and heartbreaking.
