Falling for the Backup
By: Toni Aleo

Blurb

Toni Aleo’s sexy new eBook original novella featuring the Nashville Assassins will have you believing in the power of love at first sight . . . and second sight . . . and the third.
After serving as a dutiful bridesmaid in the wedding from hell, Aynslee Shaw just wants to slink home to Nashville and forget the whole trip. That is, until the hottest guyshe’s ever seen is seated next to her on the flight and dazzles her with his easy laugh and killer smile. But just when she thinks things are getting good, he vanishes, leaving Aynslee wondering, was that guy the one? And did she just let him slip through her fingers?
Former superstar goalie Jordan Ryan is back on the ice—finally. After a crippling knee injury that had him wondering if he’d ever play pro hockey again, he’s got his full attention on rebuilding his career. So a pretty—okay, beautiful—girl on a plane shouldn’t be a distraction. But Jordan is very, very distracted. And when Aynslee crosses his path again, he’s not sure any job in the world is worth missing his second chance with a woman like her.
Includes a special message from the editor, as well as an excerpt from the Loveswept title Empty Net.

My Review..

Let's start with saying that I am huge fan of the Assassins series and was super excited to read this story.  I did find the story cute but I don't know if it was a novella or what but I found parts of the love story almost to sugary sweet and perfect.

Poor Jordan benched on the sidelines of his team and life due to an almost career ending injury.  But now he his healed and ready to come back but good Ol' Tate has stolen his spot on the team so now Jordan has to search outside of Nashville.

This sounds like a great plan until he meets Aynslee and instantly falls for her and now wants to stay but we don't always get what we want.

Jordan tries to push Aynslee away to save both of their hearts but they keep getting pulled to each other that they can't stay away.  Knowing that there is an expiry date on their relationship they forge ahead knowing the risks but emotions get involved and changes their plans where love wins in the end.

It was still a super cute quick but since Jordan was kind of on the outskirts of the team I missed the other assassins which makes the books feel more complete. I can't wait for Blue Lines though super excited to see what will happen and I hope we get to see Jordan and Aynslee here in there throughout the series.

  1. My favorite assassin would have to be Shea Adler because his and Ellie's story in Taking Shots was the first story that I read by Toni and I simply fell in love with the story. I remember that I staid up past 2 am to finish the story and I had to go to work the following day. But I didn't mind because I needed to finish reading it.

    1. I agree Shea and Ellie are my fave but Tate also holds a place dear to my heart. Thanks for leaving a comment
