“Ami?”

I hunched, sliding down the wall of the glass shower. No. I couldn’t stomach company.

Suzette entered wafting her hand at fogging steam. “Ami. You need to get out now. Master Mercer has arranged a late dinner for you.”

Food? I couldn’t think of food. I’d throw up all back up again.

Suzette turned off the shower and ducked to my level, holding a fluffy towel. “Here. Hush now, you’re safe.”

Those two little words again.

My eyes couldn’t stop the stem of tears and Suzette shuffled closer, patting my wet shoulder. “It’s okay to cry. Get it out. But I hope you’ll realize this is best place for you. Here nothing else can touch you, but Q, and that isn’t such a bad thing. Is it?”

I wiped away moisture on my cheeks. “No,” I whispered. And really, the knowledge only Q could touch me was like winning the lottery. He’d been nothing but sensual and possessive. Never evil and hurtful. He drew emotions and feelings from my body even I didn’t know I had.

It wasn’t so bad to be owned by a master like Q.

My Review...

This book is considered a DARK romance and is definitely not for the faint at heart. But yet once you are able to get past that it is also profoundly beautiful.

There is a perfect match for everyone out there.

For Tess she is living her safe cookie cutter life with her clean cut, safe boyfriend but she is craving more.

With these new desires and wants she puts strain on her relationship because Brax is content with vanilla, simple and safe.

To try to re-kindle their relationship Brax takes her on a surprise trip to Mexico but with incidents with a vibrator, thirsty pallet, bad timing and wrong place at the wrong time Tessa gets abducted into the ugly world of Human trafficking and sex slavery.

With the abduction it unleashes a side that Tess was not even aware she possessed. A flame gets lit and Tess fights for all that she has and all that she is and all that she can become.

It seemed so long ago I'd hounded Brax for more kinkiness in our love life. I'd do anything to have my old life back, my old love returned. I'd give anything for sweet and pure instead of the dark, sinister, and sadistic ownership that awaited.

Once Tess gets bought she is taken to her new master and is determined not to break and is fighting for her freedom.

The moment Q sees Tess her strength wakens up his own personal monsters within. For the first time he wants to break and and cherish her at the same time.

Tess is determined to not see what is truly in front of her as the reality can only be wrong. Can't it?

No matter how much Tess fights Q her body responds differently to him like no one else. Tess is racked with guilt about how her body responds. Only a demented person can crave this attention. Right?

All of this was my fault. I was responsible with my screwed up perversions.

Together Tess and Q fight their own personal demons, guilt, societal norms, expectations of others and themselves.

After Tess makes what you think should be the right choice but ends up being the wrong choice irrevocably changes her life in so many ways that Q goes from master to rescuer. After this all they can do but give in.

"Monsters find each other in the dark."

Q Hurt me, but adored me, all at the same time. He gave me everything I needed.

Once Tess finally finds the freedom and rightness of her feelings she is tossed aside and sent free back to her old life.

Once she is set free she gets to see the realism of her situation and how beautiful Q's soul is with his desire to save and set free the broken.

A human is adaptable. A human heart is not.

Q wasn't a monster. He may think he was...

Finally being on her own Tess gets to start making decisions for herself and be honest with her needs, wants and desires and chooses what is right for her.
