Losing Hope (Hopeless #2) - Review

Losing Hope (Hopeless #2)

by
In the follow-up to Colleen Hoover’s #1 New York Times bestseller Hopeless, the charming and irresistible Dean Holder tells the passionate story that has melted thousands of hearts.

In Hopeless, Sky left no secret unearthed, no feeling unshared, and no memory forgotten, but Holder’s past remained a mystery.

Still haunted by the little girl he let walk away, Holder has spent his entire life searching for her in an attempt to finally rid himself of the crushing guilt he has felt for years. But he could not have anticipated that the moment they reconnect, even greater remorse would overwhelm him…

Sometimes in life, if we wish to move forward, we must first dig deep into our past and make amends. In Losing Hope, bestselling author Colleen Hoover reveals what was going on inside Holder’s head during all those hopeless moments—and whether he can gain the peace he desperately needs.

My Review...

First I have to give a shout out to Colleen Hoover who is so brilliant. Thank you!

Now, often when an author publishes a second book from the alternate POV there has been some disappointments with repeated scenes with a bit of bonus scenes but with Losing Hope it so blew my expectations.  It was fantastic. It felt like I was reading a whole new book.  Through Holder you got to experience everything all over again.  This book can be a stand alone but it is recommended that you read Hopeless first.

Dean Holder.....Wow! The heartache and loss that he has had to go through.  You do not wish that to happen to anyone and poor Holder feels so responsible for everything even though NONE of it was his fault.

I loved seeing Sky from Dean's POV.  It created such a new dimension to her that we didn't get to see in Hopeless.

"Sky, I'm not kissing you tonight but believe me when I tell you, I've never wanted to kiss a girl more. So stop thinking I'm not attracted to you because you have no idea just how much I am.  You can hold my hand, you can run your fingers through my hair, you can straddle me while I feed you spaghetti, but you are not getting kissed tonight.  And probably not tomorrow, either. I need this. I need to know for sure that you're feeling every single thing that I'm felling the moment my lips touch yours.  Because I want your first kiss to be the best first kiss in the history of first kisses."

The infamous almost kiss...Gah!!!!

I loved the concept of the journal entries it created so much more depth and insight.

I could go on and on about all the things I miss about you to the point that I start to feel sorry for myself again.  But I've learned over the past year what it really means to be able to miss someone. In order to miss someone, that means you were privileged enough to have them in your life to begin with.
This book and Hopeless were fantastic and both such a beautiful journey.  The story is both beautiful and profound

5 Holder Loving Thumbs up!
