Truly (New York #1)

by
RITA finalist and USA Today bestselling author Ruthie Knox kicks off a steamy new series set in the city that never sleeps—alone, at least.

May Fredericks hates New York. Which is fair enough, since New York seems to hate her back. After relocating to Manhattan from the Midwest to be with her long-distance boyfriend, NFL quarterback Thor Einarsson, May receives the world’s worst marriage proposal, stabs the jerk with a shrimp fork, and storms off alone—only to get mugged. Now she’s got no phone, no cash, and no friends. How’s a nice girl supposed to get back to safe, sensible Wisconsin?

Frankly, Ben Hausman couldn’t care less. Sure, it’s not every day he meets a genuine, down-to-earth woman like May—especially in a dive in the Village—but he’s recovering from an ugly divorce that cost him his restaurant. He wants to be left alone to start over and become a better man. Then again, playing the white knight to May’s sexy damsel in distress would be an excellent place to start—if only he can give her one very good reason to love New York.

My Truly Review ...

First, let's have a shout out to Ruthie Knox who has again written a great story.

In this story we have Mae who has just publicly attacked her boyfriend after his proposal from hell then dumped him via a note and Ben a man who is angry, blunt and honest. Mae needs help so she takes a risk and approaches the angry guy at the bar who after he meets Mae wants to practice trying to be nice for a change by taking her under his wing.
"You have anything else on your agenda? Now that you've committed assault, dropped your asshole boyfriend, and gotten mugged?"
So many times people aren't honest with their feelings and that is what I loved about this book.  It's not all sweet and roses it's angry, truthful and honest.  Even though Mae just got out of relationship she is drawn to angry Ben.  Partly because he is gorgeous but also because he is refreshingly honest.
"You're allowed to hate it."
As Ben and Mae struggle with their own issues they bring out the best in one another however that is for them.
" ... sometimes everything looks right from the outside, but it's wrong.  Sometimes it looks wrong, but it's right. ..."
This book was great.  It was not your typical love story but it was a refreshing love story.  I loved the way the story was formatted and how the characters developed.  I went through the gamut of emotions routing for this unlikely duo and New York City.  I can not wait for the next two in this series.

Cover Reveal - Within These Walls by J.L. Berg

We're so excited to reveal the cover for WITHIN THESE WALLS by J.L. Berg, which releases August 18th!

About WITHIN THESE WALLS:

Within these walls, he became my solace, my sanctuary and my strength. I am not strong. I am just a survivor of circumstance. Isn’t that what we all do? Survive? Each of us has our own set of circumstances to muddle through. Mine are just more... complicated. Born with a severe heart defect, I’ve seen the inside of a hospital room more than my own bedroom. I was drowning, a prisoner to the illness that owned me, until he appeared. He thinks he’s blocked out the world with his tattoos and hard exterior, but I see the real Jude, the one he so desperately wants to forget. But is he the answer to my prayers or will he break my already damaged heart forever? My name is Lailah Buchanan, and this is our story of hope, redemption and sacrificing it all for the one you love.

Prologue

Within these walls he became my solace, my sanctuary and my strength.
Like a white knight, he saved me from a life of gray and showed me a world full of color.
Within these walls, I gave myself to a man who said he would always fight for me.
Love me until the end of time.
But sometimes, not even love is enough when life gets in the way.
When your heart is already damaged beyond repair, what is there left to break?
Within these walls, I gave my less than perfect heart to the man I loved.
And then...he walked away.

My Breaking the Sky Review...

After loving the spiral of bliss series I jumped at the chance to read this story. The super strong Kelsey and the misunderstood brooding Archer.

I loved Kelsey in the first series but I have to admit I felt her quite weak in this book until the very end. It also drove me crazy that we didn't find out her reason for her walls until like 60% but then when we find out I felt it was a bit anti climatic.

As for Archer I knew he had some depth underneath his chip on his shoulder.  Archer has made some bad choices but has finally seen the light to move forward and make better choices.

I loved Kelsey and Archer together. Once she finally stopped fighting it, their chemistry was stormy and explosive.

This journey was also about the calm before and after the storm.  That means fences were mended with Dean and past guilt was let go.  So there now can be blue sky for this duo.

Once things got momentum it was a great story.  It may have looked like opposites attract but in truth it was two very similar people needing each other just projecting their hurt in different armors.  For Kelsy it was all about work and no fun.  For Archer it was all about being the screw up everyone thinks he is and not striving for more.  But for Archer he is so much more.  Kelsey saw through his bullshit right away, as well as Archer could cut through all of Kelsey's defenses so he could find the gem in the rough.

Again Nina Lane has written another erotic sexy tale with drama and angst.

Tamed (Tangled #3)

by

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: girl meets player, they fall in love, player changes his ways.

It’s a good story. But it’s not our story. Ours is a lot more colorful.

When I met Dee I knew right away that she was special. When she met me, she thought I was anything but special—I was exactly like every other guy who’d screwed her over and let her down. It took some time to convince her otherwise, but turns out I can make a convincing argument when sex is at stake.

You might know where this story’s headed. But the best part isn't where we ended up.

It’s how we got there.

TAMED goes back in time to the Tangled days. But this time around, it’s not Drew dishing out the advice and opinions—it’s his best friend Matthew, who of course is dealing with Dee Dee.

About this author

By day, Emma Chase is a devoted wife and mother of two who resides in a small, rural town in New Jersey. By night she is a keyboard crusader, toiling away the hours to bring her colorful characters and their endless antics to life. She has a long standing love/hate relationship with caffeine.

Emma is an avid reader. Before her children were born she was known to consume whole books in a single day. Writing has also always been a passion and with the 2013 release of her debut romantic comedy, Tangled, the ability to now call herself an author is nothing less than a dream come true.

My Tamed Review ...

We have to start this review with ....

I absolutely love and adore Emma Chase and her books.  Her style of writing is freakin' hilarious.  In this book we get to see how they dynamics of Matthew and Dee Dee played out.  I wasn't sure if I was going to be as captured with them as I was with Drew and Kate.  They didn't quite have the firework power like Drew and Kate did but they did come in a close second.

The Male POV was great.  With Matthew and Drew we get to be inside the male psyche and how they see relationships work.  Pure genius it is.

With all the books in this series I laughed and ...

Tamed and the others are books that are hard to review because they are just books that need to be experienced instead of talked about in my opinion.

As always Drew and Matthew have each others back.
"Until he realizes the icebox you call a twat just isn't worth the price of admission anymore. That could be a problem."
With Drew comes laughs and shenigans.  Where Drew had a complete turn around, Matthew just needed the right woman to show his heart to.  Matthew is really a big softy and feisty Dee is the key to Matthew's sweetness.

Even thought Matthew is more of a sweetheart from the beginning he still had many moments with his foot in his mouth.  With Dee she may be feisty but she also has her share of issues that put a kink into their happiness.   But love is worth it and Matthew and Dee fight for it when it counts.

Great Book! Amazingly fabulous Author! Hilarious Series!

First Part in a Series.

My 8 Weeks Review ...

Ok, let's start with first that I am a big fan of Bethany Lopez and her NA stories.  Right from the first chapter I was reeled in to find out how Cal was going to fix that major screw up.  But the more I read the more I got frustrated and had mixed feelings about the story.

It felt like Cal and Shelly were children playing grownups.  I totally got Shelly's reaction but I started to get so frustrated with her that she was being so immature and wouldn't even listen to Cal or have a conversation about what did or didn't happen.

For Cal I liked him from start to finish even with his screw up.  I can't imagine ever having to go through what they went through from either side but Cal always seemed to be the more mature of the two.
"No wonder you're so quick to give up ... I thought we were in a partnership, Shel. I've never expected you to ask my permission to do anything. I love you, for who you are, and I want you to do what makes you happy."
With this break came the realization that all was not perfect in their grown up marriage and this just forced them to deal with it properly so they can grow up and move on.

I LOVED the idea of this story but their immaturity especially Shelly drove me a bit batty at times causing me to get frustrated and not enveloped into the story.  However if you like NA then I think this series has loads of potential.   This book was about trust, forgiveness, love and second chances.  It's also about fighting for something worthwhile when all things could be lost no matter having the proper knowledge or not. Even though this was a NA book it felt more like YA emotions with sex thrown in.  Not saying that's a bad thing but I was left wanting more maturity and depth from this book.

Cover Reveal!!!! When You We're Mine by Elizabeth Reyes

We are so excited to share the sexy cover for When You Were Mine by Elizabeth Reyes. We also have a great little excerpt to share as well!

Title: When You Were Mine ( A Moreno Brother's novella)
Author: Elizabeth Reyes
Age Group: NA
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: Fall 2014

Synopsis

When her head was screaming “enough,” her hopeful heart continued to whisper “wait.”
It's the only way Valerie Zuniga can justify her ongoing addiction to the amazing but ever, elusive Alex Moreno. Mesmerized by the profound connection neither has ever quite understood, Valerie  accepts their crazy relationship for what it is—non-exclusive.
That is until the incredible highs no longer numb the sting of the intense lows.
As tasteless and slippery as pride can be, for Alex it's always been the hardest pill to swallow.
Faced with a final ultimatum, the choice is a no-brainer for Alex. Despite his insanely busy life he's determined to prove to Valerie, that not only is he ready to commit, it's what he's always wanted—to claim Valerie as his exclusively.
But just as it kept him from admitting his real feelings all those years, will his obstinate pride once again step in and ruin things just when they're finally getting it right?

Excerpt

"Why are you here?" she demanded.

"I wanna talk to you?" he asked hopefully.

"No," her response was too quick—abrupt. "I'm busy now. Try me another time."

Okay maybe he deserved that. But he knew she wasn't busy. He knew he had to convince her to hear him out. Alex was determined to say everything he came here to say to her tonight. And then he saw it. The movement behind her. His eyes zeroed in on a guy sitting at her small kitchen table looking equally as relaxed as Valerie texting something on his phone and there were two glasses of wine on the table.

Alex took him in for another second from top to bottom as the slow boil inside him began to bubble. The guy put his phone down then reached for the bottle of wine and poured them each a little more.

On instinct Alex put his hand on the door in case she even thought of trying to slam the door on his face. That wasn't happening now. And any hope of this night ending amicably like he'd been optimistic about was instantly squashed. He turned to Valerie whose earlier incensed eyes looked a little panicked now. "Who the fuck is that?"
