Liza Sutherland isn’t looking for love. Not from a charity-auction date she didn’t even bid on and especially not with Nationals first baseman Cole Collins, the guy she obsessed over as an awkward teenager. She won’t get involved with a notorious player, no matter how attractive Cole is.

Cole Collins is up for contract renegotiation, but after too many late-night parties, he’ll need some positive publicity before he can make the roster. His agent, Frank, pitches Liza as the perfect prop…only Cole didn’t account for Liza no longer being just a teenager with a crush. She’s gorgeous and smart and he’s instantly hooked.

When Frank makes Liza a deal she can’t refuse—a bet she will fall in love with Cole or a cool half mil goes to charity—the game is on. But neither bet on the real feelings that surface. Could a fake fling turn into an official forever?

My Review....

Some of my favorite themes are friends to lovers and sport romances now put those together and you have a killer combination.  I adored this book.

Cole and Liza may have entered their fake relationship for different reasons but in the end Love is all that matters.  For Cole and Liza they had met when they were teenagers and really got to know the true selves of one another but as adults life had taken them in different directions.  Thank goodness other people who they loved realized what they needed and played with fate to put them back together.

I loved the growth of this pair while they were falling in love with each other and the scene when Cole takes Liza to the cemetery be still my heart it was so heartbreakingly beautiful.

There were a few twists and turns through their journey which were hard but are part of the process to cement their path together.  I absolutely loved Paige's character and I hope that she gets her own story and it be an added bonus if he too played a little baseball. Hmmmmmm. Just a thought.

Cole and Liza are a great solid couple and so worth a read to get to know them. This story is a short, easy fun read with love, heart ache, miscommunication, tears, and passion.

4. 5 Thumbs up!

  1. Sounds like a great book. I may have to check it out! There's nothing like a great romance.
