Hard Time

In this all-new novel from the author of Unbound, a woman with a rocky past finds romance in the last place she’d ever expect...

Annie Goodhouse doesn’t need to be warned about bad boys; good sense and an abusive ex have given her plenty of reasons to play it safe. But when she steps into her new role as outreach librarian for Cousins Correctional Facility, no amount of good sense can keep her mind—or eyes—off inmate Eric Collier.

Eric doesn’t claim to be innocent of the crime that landed him in prison. In fact, he’d do it again if that’s what it took to keep his family safe. Loyalty and force are what he knows. But meeting Annie makes him want to know more.

When Eric begins courting Annie through letters, they embark on a reckless, secret romance—a forbidden fantasy that neither imagines could ever be real…until early parole for Eric changes everything, and forces them both to face a past they can’t forget, and a desire they can’t deny.

My Review ...

Cara Mckenna knows how to write sexy.  I love Cara's writing.  It's passionate and often outside the box which I love.

Annie is still healing from her past and the last she wants is to fall in love, especially with a convict.
It's fucked up the way men can hurt women and how much longer it takes to heal than just a bruise or a cut.
Eric is a good loyal man who was dealt a shitty hand from how he was brought up but he has a huge heart.

Annie instantly is drawn to Eric even though it is the last thing she wants but once she finds the beauty of his words its hard to look away because its safe since he is in jail and won't be coming out anytime soon.

Eric's words are sexy, heartbreaking and beautiful.  The love story through the letters was amazing. I loved it.  The steam from those pages was almost too much and there wasn't even any touching. Yowza!

Falling in love through letters is safe until it is brought to the forefront where things get real.
I just want to be the kind of man who deserves to feel what you make me feel, instead of just settling for whatever's available, the way people do back home.
I loved Eric throughout.  At times Annie bugged me with her narrow thinking and stubborn ways but the beauty of Eric is hard to resist.  I love the way Cara writes and gets to the unconventional heart of the matter.
