My Review ...
I LOVED Hooked, so I was super excited to read this book but sadly I have to admit that I did not love this book as much. It was well written but I didn't connect to Sam and Riley like I did to Fred & Ryan.
I truly did love Sam but with Riley she just didn't do it for me, which caused me not to get wrapped into the story as much as I did with Hooked. What I can say though is I truly do love Liz Fichera and how she writes. I love her tapping into the Native American issues which is a culture not often found in fiction especially YA. I also feel like Liz does capture the essence of YA issues and gets to the heart of the matter.
For Riley, she doesn't quite know where she fits in which causes her tons of internal conflict.
For Sam, who has the biggest heart, he wants the best for his people but sometimes gets jaded when he doesn't see eye to eye on matters.
The two are the most unlikely pair but end up being the thing that they both need the most.
I felt Sam, turn around of feelings from Fred to Riley was a bit too quick to fully envelop the idea of it and for Riley and how she handled things drove me batty. But that is me looking at this book from an adult to YA. For the YA readers they will most likely relate to the drama whole heartedly.
In the end I did like the book I just didn't love it. It is always hard when you have expectations from one book to another. If I had never read Hooked I probably would have LOVED this book because I had no basis of expectations.
3 Played Thumbs up!
