Ricochet by Keri Lake Blog Tour ~ #giveaway #bookreview #playlist #teasers #darkromance

Title: Ricochet
Author: Keri Lake
Genre: Dark Romance
Release Date: July 9, 2015

The only sure way to destroy a man is to take what he cannot live without.

Three years ago, I had everything.

A beautiful wife.

A son.

A reason for living.

Until a ruthless task force, assembled under Mayor Michael Culling, with a brutal strategy to make the streets of Detroit ‘safe’, ripped away everything I loved in a deadly hunt called The Culling.

They tried to kill me, too. I wish they had. Now I'm cursed by the memories of that night, and the words I whispered to my dying wife.

A promise—to avenge the wrong and set it right.

I’m no longer Nick Ryder. I’m a masked vigilante. Faceless. Loveless. Fearless. A man with nothing left to lose—one who's seen the dark and violent truth behind the city’s flawless veneer.

Michael Culling doesn’t know who I am. Or what I want. All he knows is that I’ve kidnapped his beautiful wife.

An eye for an eye—isn’t that how the saying goes? And Aubree Culling is the perfect pawn to destroy him.

If she doesn’t destroy me first.

My Ricochet Review ...

Keri Lake has made the jump from paranormal to dark romance and has done a stupendous job.

Nick Ryder is a broken man, and he's going to make everyone pay.  Nick has one goal and one goal only. And that is revenge.

"One of these days, the light is going to flip on, and you'll realize the hits you've suffered in darkness were your very own shadow.  Honor your family with vengeance, but don't make yourself one of your own victims."

Nick has many sides to him, which makes him such a complex and dark but still real and loveable.

"For a sadistic, loveless bastard, you got a heart of gold, Nick."

Nick's plans alter when he decides to kidnap the wife of his nemesis.  But those plans change when he starts to get to know Aubree.

"You're something else, Pistol Lips."

"You know what, Aubree?  I fucking hate you, too, but goddamn . . . you taste so good."

"Broken in the inside."  I sighed.  "I know the feeling."

My apologies, if I've given you the impression that I don't plan to hurt you."

As we start to get wrapped into this dark world and this anti-hero we get to see so much more to Nick.  We get to feel his pain and torment.  But we also get to see his sweet and loving side as well.  But for Nick he only sees the dark.

Anger so venomous and lethal, I'd become more beast than man.

This booked fucking gutted me at times.  With its anti-hero and his need for vengeance.  His torture and pain were so real and raw.  But then there was also Blue.  There are no real words that can explain about how I felt during this part.

The further down his road to vengeance, the harder it is to stay on the path.  Aubree changes something inside of Nick, but it is it enough?

"Or maybe I see something deeper than the darkness you wear on the surface, Nick."

There was no room for morals between us.  We'd breached the line of decency and fallen into dark depravity.

We fit the only way two fucked up people could possibly fit together.
I saw darkness in her beauty, and she saw beauty in my darkness. Yin and yang. Black and white.  Beauty and scars; fury and forgiveness.  She should've been my nemesis, but in her, I found something I didn't know I was looking for. . . .

"Ever shoot someone?"  "No.  Last I checked, hunting people is considered murder."

The ultimate revenge isn't the murder of my enemy.  It's the whisper of truth on my last stolen breath.

Nick's story is dark and sad.  But it's also about second chances and hope. As well as light within the dark.  For Nick, he thinks he's lost it all but when he least expects it he is given a second chance.  Nick is the best anti-hero around.  You can't help but feel his pain and root for him to have his revenge.  Yet at the same time you want him to have some light again in a world that was so dark for him.

This book is dark, yet beautiful.  It's edgy and raw.  Emotionally gripping and real. While full of twists and surprises.  It will keep you captivated from beginning to end.  Loved it! Recommend it.
