Holiday on Ice (Play by Play #8.5)

by

In this original holiday novella in the Play-By-Play series, New York Times bestselling author Jaci Burton gives readers the gift of “plenty of romance, sexy men, hot steamy loving, and humor.” (Smexy Books)

Superstar hockey player Patrick “Trick” Niemeyer and dancer Stella Slovinski have picked up where they left off a year ago, resuming their hot, uncomplicated affair. Stella refuses to call it dating, or a relationship. But lately, Trick is looking for more…

Stella’s been burned before—in a relationship she never talks about—not with her family, not with her friends, and definitely not with Trick. But now it’s the holiday season and Trick is determined to give Stella his heart wrapped up in a bow. He knows Stella is the right woman for him, but he’ll have to melt the ice surrounding her heart to keep her from walking away.

Includes a preview of Jaci Burton’s Quarterback Draw and Love After All.

This will again be a digital novella. I know this frustrates my print readers, but I promise we’ll eventually get these books out in print, so hang in there!

My Holiday on Ice Review ...

Let's start with I do really love this series and Jaci Burton but this particular novella but me way back into the depths of my reading funk.  Argh! I was just starting to come out of the funk than BAM Stella happened.   I did like Trick without him I would have thrown out my kindle most likely at this point in my reading funk.

Here we have a steamy novella which has more steam than substance at times and a whiny heroine who was once burnt at 20 yrs old so because of that she is running scared of ever getting hurt again.

Come on, we all get hurt at times in our life I just want heroines to get over it and stop being so whiny and running scared.  Is that so much to ask for. Really?
"I'm not sure I deserve you. I'm kind of bitchy and mean." (You think?  No she didn't deserve Trick for being so damn annoying)
Gah! I wanted to like this and maybe if I wasn't in such a funk I would have.  It's not the author's fault as she is a great writer but I read too much and this storyline is monotonous and over done so I'm just tired of it as a reader.  For others who aren't over done with this theme, they'll love this quick steamy read.  Sadly, Stella did not do it for me but even though I didn't like this book doesn't mean I have given up on this series.

2 to 2.5 Way back into my reading funk thumbs up!
thumbs upthumbs up. 5
