NOT QUITE FOREVER
The Not Quite Series, Book Four
Montlake Romance, Contemporary
November 04, 2014, First Edition
Paperback & Kindle

The touching and heartwarming fourth novel in the wildly popular Not Quite series from New York Times bestselling author Catherine Bybee.

Romance author Dakota Laurens believes that happily-ever-afters exist only between the covers of her sexy novels. But to her surprise, she finds a real-life hero when she meets a handsome emergency room doctor. The outspoken author feels an instant and intense attraction to Dr. Walt Eddy, and the feeling is mutual. When the globetrotting doctor pulls a disappearing act on Dakota, she’s prepared to write him off…until fate brings a blindsiding twist to her story.

Still scarred from a past tragedy, Walt may have disappeared on Dakota, but now he’s determined to win her back. For the first time in years, he knows he’s ready for a new chance at love. Yet between Dakota’s doubts and two sets of meddling parents, can the once-blissful couple finally create the bright, loving future they desperately want?

PRAISE FOR NOT QUITE FOREVER

“Bybee’s magnetic fourth Not Quite contemporary proves that romance can happen in the most unlikely places... The love scenes are sizzling and the multi-dimensional characters make this a page-turner. Readers will look for earlier installments and eagerly anticipate new ones.”
Publishers Weekly

My Not Quite Forever Review ...

As many of you know, who have been following my blog know that I have been in a 'whiny heroine reading funk'.  I'll admit I'm not totally out of the funk yet but this book was a step in the right direction.  The heroine in this book is stronger than I have read lately with only one weak and whiny episode.  Which is the reason it didn't take me completely out of my funk since the heroine runs scared after her first and only fight with her boyfriend.  That's it, one fight and a miscommunication and she went running scared.  Thankfully she pulled her head out of her ass quickly for it not to drive me over the edge.

Catherine Bybee has a gift and writing great contemporary romances.  Her stories have heart, love, passion mixed in with a bit of drama and fun.  They aren't always the deepest stories but I have yet to come across a Catherine Bybee book that I haven't liked.   When you are looking for a sweet, fun, HEA romance than Catherine Bybee is your girl.

Here we have a famous author and selfless doctor who are the unlikeliest duo. Dakota for the most part is a strong woman who has a successful career writing romance novels but is yet to live her HEA for herself.  Walt Eddy the 3rd is a doctor who always does the right thing even if it will hurt him in the end.

"I'm the writer, Doctor.  A hero is anyone willing to give of themselves without anything in return."

Walt and Dakota meet after a misunderstanding and quickly give in to their immediate attraction to one another. One thing they quickly realize is that the biggest thing they have in common is that to their families believe that they have never been quite good enough.  With this bond will they find each other good enough?

As Dakota and Walt try to find time for one another they fall deep quickly.  So quick, it scares Walt.  As Walt is trying to deal with his fears, he stops communicating with Dakota.  After this Dakota bolts. Grrrrr! Even though Walt figured out what he wanted before she bolts, now he has to chase her and prove that he won't let he down again.  Even though he may be able to win Dakota back, it doesn't mean everyone else will be on board.  Which creates a new journey for them that will either strengthen or weaken their new fragile bond.

Cute storyline, great couple, sweet book. 4 Almost out of my reading funk thumbs up!
