Code Red Blog Tour - Guest Post & Review

Guest Post by Amy Noelle

On Reading
I’ve been a reader all my life, well, since I was four years old and learned to read.  I was one of those kids that always, always had my nose buried in a book.  I could read before the rest of my class and while they were learning the basics, the teacher sat me down with the latest and greatest Dr. Seuss books and such and I went to town on my own.  That honestly never changed.
I’m from a military family so those of you out there that have been through it know what that means.  Moving.  All the time.  Every three years or so on average.  I hated it.  I was a shy kid to start with and then having to leave behind the friends that I did make and go someplace new, usually over the summer, was hard for me.  My brother was the opposite.  He’d watch the movers unload the moving truck, waiting for his bike to appear, and he’d take off and ride around the neighborhood and come home with at least three new friends he’d made.  Often he didn’t even know their names, but they were his friends and that was all that mattered.  I set up my room and set up my books and read the summer away until school started and then I’d socialize and make a few close friends, but never as many as my baby brother did.
But that was okay with me.  Because I had “other friends”.  You know, the friends that I made in books.  I was part of The Babysitter’s Club.  I suffered through adolescence with Margaret from Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret and shook my head at Fudge’s antics along with big brother Peter.  Ahh, Judy Blume, you did give me a few great friends.  I travelled through time with Meg and Calvin in A Wrinkle in Time and solved crime with Nancy Drew and Harriett the Spy.  And as I got older, I got caught up in the trials and tribulations of the Wakefield twins and their friends in Sweet Valley High.  So I had my own friends, on paper anyway, until the physical ones came along.
It doesn’t surprise me to find myself writing and creating new friends today.  Friendship is one of the biggest aspects of Code Red and one of my favorites and all the reading I did in my childhood is likely a big part of that.  And I’ve had the unexpected benefit of making friends through my writing.  I’ve met some truly lovely men and women through my words in the fanfiction world, where I got the readership, attention and belief in myself to attempt original fiction.  The fact that so many of those lovely readers have come along on this journey with me touches my heart in ways I can’t even fully articulate.
Hopefully I’ll make even more new friends through Code Red.  Interacting with readers on Twitter and Facebook is so much fun for me.  I love discussing Nicole’s hang-ups and Josh’s general sexiness and all the fun that people have had with my characters.  I look forward to hopefully a lot more of that.  Meanwhile, I hope you find a few new fictional friends through my writing, or someone else’s.  Getting lost in a book, getting absorbed into a whole different world from your own, is such a pleasure.  I hope everyone takes joy in reading something, whoever wrote it.  Thank you for hosting me here and letting me remember those friends that were always there for me.  I think I’ll go find one of those books for old time’s sake!

My Review...

I thought this was a good book with a great leading couple and an amazing group of good friends.  Besides the main character having the last name Magette which I kept thinking of Magots every time I read it it was good.

However, there were many times that I wanted to slap Nicole across the head and say "Get over yourself already" because lets be honest her story was not that drastic that she had to be so hardcore and stubborn about it. There are a lot of worst things that could have happened besides cheating. And with that cheating she also gained to great friends because of that.

I have to admit Nicole's friends are awesome I love their support and honesty especially when Nicole gets crazy. They still love her even though she is a bit mad sometimes. They might be my favorite part of the book.

Now let's talk about Joshua. I loved him from the first moment he enters into Nicole's office.  He is smart, gorgeous, honest, and loves Nicole for who she is (crazy and all). He could be the perfect man and may even be Book BF worthy.  He is going to have to sit with me for a bit and if I can't get him out of my mind then he will make the list. :)

Once Nicole calms down and can finally lets Josh in their relationship blossoms and you can see the real connection between the two of them.  It is raw and yet still pretty.  Their relationships is a nice mix of angst, humor, passion and love.
