Some MM loving #reviews -Hot Head, Double Full, Bad Idea, After the Fall and No Flag

Well I have been reading a lot lately so I decided to put a compilation of my latest MM reviews.  I don't know what compels me to this genre but there is something magical within the beauty of two strong characters that can love one another.

Hot Head (Head #1)
by
Where there's smoke there's fire. . .

Since 9/11, Brooklyn firefighter Griff Muir has wrestled with impossible feelings for his best friend and partner at Ladder 181: Dante Anastagio. Unfortunately Dante is strictly a ladies' man and the FDNY isn’t exactly gay-friendly. For 10 years, Griff has hidden his heart in a half-life of public heroics and private anguish.

Griff’s caution and Dante’s cockiness make them an unbeatable team. To protect his buddy, there’s nothing Griff wouldn’t do… until Dante is nearly bankrupt and proposes the worst possible solution: HotHead.com, a gay-porn website where uniformed hunks get down-n-dirty… Now Dante wants them to appear there— together.

Griff may have to guard his heart and live out his darkest fantasies on camera. Can he rescue the man he loves without wrecking their careers, their families, or their friendship?

My Review...

Yipee!! A passionate love story about not one but TWO hot fire fighters.

Griffin the big giant accidently fell in love with his best friend. But since Dante is straight as straight can be he can't act on his feelings. Instead he works hard and hits the bottle to drown his sorrows.

For Dante he is careless about his life and parties hard and doesn't take to much seriously which gets him into trouble financially.  When he needs help he always turns to Griff.  But with his latest skeme he convinces Griffin to do a MM video shoot for extra cash.

"Your life needs an airbag. I swear, Anastagio, you should have come equipped when you were born."

A bit of an unconventional request and Griff is scared that his true feelings will come out but he has never been able to deny Dante anything so he goes for it.

After these video shoots emotions get all effed up and to tell the truth and live free or to deny what you want because your scared of rejection and societal views are tough pills to swallow.

"...Because people should not be punished for loving and hoping and holding their hearts open."

But Love is a powerful thing.  Sometimes when you take the chance its worth it.  Once Griff finally got the balls to come clean to his feelings he finds out that its not unrequited.

"Never in my life have I wanted to come back to bed, G." Dante touched Griff's jaw, copper stubble rasping under his fingers. "Why haven't you been here all along? In my bed, I mean, I can't fucking remember what took me so long to find my way to you."

Loved this story.

Double Full (A Nice Guy Novel #1)

by
Up and coming football hero, Colton Michaels, makes a Hail Mary pass one night in the college locker room that results in the hottest, sexiest five days of his young life. However, interference after the play has him hiding his past and burying his future in the bottom of a bottle. While Colt seems to have it all, looks can be deceiving, especially when you’re trapped so far in a closet that you can’t see your way out. When ten years of living his expected fast-lane lifestyle lands him engaged to his manipulative Russian supermodel girlfriend, he decides it’s time to call a new play.

Jace Montgomery single-handily built the largest all-star cheerleading gym in the world, driven by a need to forget a life-altering encounter with a handsome quarterback a decade ago. His reputation as an excellent coach, hard-nosed business man, and savvy entrepreneur earned him respect in the sometimes catty world of competitive cheerleading. When Jace learns of his ex-lover’s plans to marry, his heart executes a barrel roll and his carefully-placed resolve tumbles down without a mat to absorb the shock. Can his island escape help him to finally let go of the past and move his life forward?

My Review...

So it's been awhile since I have read a good heartfelt MM book and....

I loved this book!

Colt the moment he laid eyes on Jace he knew whom he wanted but his reality unfortunately tore them apart.

Jace was weary of his love for Colt as it was too good to be true and sadly he got bitch slapped with this truth but that didn't mean his love for Colt ever died.

Ten friggin' years later Colt finally decides his happiness is worth more than everything and fights for what he wants or we should say whom he wants.

The love between these two men is breathtaking beautiful.

From the beginning the steam comes off the page and then turns into a beautiful love story.

I can't wait to find out who caused Jace and Colt a world of pain as well as will Mitch finally be able to believe in love for himself.

Bad Idea
by
Some mistakes are worth making.

Reclusive comic book artist Trip Spector spends his life doodling super-square, straitlaced superheroes, hiding from his fans, and crushing on his unattainable boss until he meets the dork of his dreams. Silas Goolsby is a rowdy FX makeup creator with a loveless love life and a secret streak of geek who yearns for unlikely rescues and a truly creative partnership.

Against their better judgment, they fall victim to chemistry, and what starts as infatuation quickly grows tender and terrifying. With Silas’s help, Trip gambles his heart and his art on a rotten plan: sketching out Scratch, a “very graphic novel” that will either make his name or wreck his career. But even a smash can't save their world if Trip retreats into his mild-mannered rut, leaving Silas to grapple with betrayal and emotions he can't escape.

What will it take for this dynamic duo to discover that heroes never play it safe?

My Review...

So this book was so quirky and brilliant at the same time. Don't get me wrong for most of it I felt like I was trapped in a schizophrenic comic book but at the same time I loved it.

For Silas and Trip it was an unconventional love story in a geeky world with crazy ass amazing friends.

For Trip it was safer to make his own script in life of what he expected out of life instead of really living life.

Once he meets Silas things change but Trip is to afraid and pushes Silas and his dreams away.
Until Trip finally pulls his big boy pants up and fights for what he wants and needs which is Silas.

My Review...

I am such a huge fan of the Tucker Springs novels and was super excited to finally get Nathan's story.

With this story it was not as emotionally charged as some of the other Tucker Spring novels but it was still a sweet story about love when you least expect it.

For Nathan he as burned a couple of times from love so he guards his heart.
After an unfortunate accident he learns to rely on his new friend Ryan.  For Ryan instead of guarding his heart he runs from emotions and lives like a gypsy.  But for the first time he wants to stay.

Once emotions get involved Nathan does what is best and pushes away while Ryan runs.   But love is a fickle thing and doesn't want to be ignored so Ryan and Nathan have to face their demons together.

Their relationship was sweet and I was emotionally connected but I felt rushed near the end when the their emotions finally hit the surface.

My Review...

I was looking forward to this for a variety of reasons.  For one I liked the idea of this book and I was curious about the Domestic Discipline relationship as I have not read too much about this before.

First off I can't imagine what it would be like to have your partner out at war and to live in limbo waiting upon their return. Now add the complication of being a same sex partner and having the army not acknowledge the relationship would be twice as hard.

For Will he would not have committed to Mike if he knew he was going to be deployed again but it did happen and he was going to do whatever he could to make sure their love was still strong upon Mike's return.

Most people don't understand the dynamics behind any Dominate/Submissive type relationship but this structure worked for Mike and Will.  It is what kept them strong while he was away.

Devastation while Mike is away causes him to return sooner than planned and not as a whole man.  Mike has new demons and has to learn how to cope and except Will's unconditional love.

Also with Mike's return Will's friend Seth finally accepts Will's choices and lifestyle while their friend Casey turns a bit diabolical.  Holy shit! I just wanted to seriously beat the crap out of that crazy ass bitch.

The aftermath of what war can do to a soldier and their family is so overwhelming and my heart goes out to any men or women who have to live with this reality.  For Mike and Will after many hiccups and acceptance they can finally return to their new normal with no flags.

It was a heart wrenching story about love, loss, and strength.
