Synopsis:
Everything done in darkness, will eventually be brought into the light.
I ran, but all it did was keep me one step ahead of my past. I tried to start over; new name, new identity. But you can't change your soul.
A fresh start at college was just what I needed. For a while, it worked. I was the party girl, the one that seemed confident, but it was a lie.
When guys kissed me--I felt only pain.
When they touched me--Nothing but fear.
Deep inside, every girl wants to be the beauty in the story, to find someone that will see you as their world.
But the truth? I was the beast. And as much as I wanted redemption, I wasn't fool enough to think I'd ever get it.
Until he walked into my life.
I wasn't prepared to fall for someone. My scars were too deep, the wounds too raw. But he offered me peace, he offered me security. I should have known it was just another lie--I should have known that falling in love with my professor was a bad idea.
But I was powerless to stop myself from falling.
And he was powerless to catch me.
Because the darkness finally caught up to me, and as fate would have it, a cruel twist almost bled me dry. But I'm stronger than I knew. I'm stronger than you think.
You think you know my story, but you don't....after all everyone has Shame in their lives-- and I'm no longer afraid to show you mine.

My Shame Review ...

Finally we get Lisa/Mel's Story.  For the last 2.5 books Lisa has been the great upbeat friend but you know she has her own person demons.

Insecurities can cause us to do many things we regret and for Lisa her insecurities were heightened by her ex who saw her weakness and capitalized it.  With this he made Lisa do many things that she regretted and caused her nothing but darkness and shame. Finally being free of her ex's reigns she tries to start a new life and move forward but with Gabe getting outed in Toxic it causes Lisa's past to come to the forefront in the media where she can't hide anymore.

Lisa is determined to move forward but is uprooted by her new sexy professor who happens to be friends with Wes.  There is something about this new professor that draws her in even though he has a Jekyl and Hyde personality when it comes to Lisa.

Tristan wants revenge for what happened to his half brother and Lisa is the key to this redemption but his plans get thwarted once he finally meets and is instantly enchanted with Lisa.  His personal fears of madness are brought to the surface with Lisa.

Now confused with these new feelings he doesn't know what to do.  As Lisa is trying to make headway with her new future her past keeps haunting and taunting her.  Can she ever be free of this darkness?

Let's start with how awesome Gabe and Wes are. *sigh* I didn't think we would be able to have another guy who could be just as awesome but Tristan sure fits that bill and can give both of these boys a run for the money but Wes will always hold my heart.
"Keep fighting for her."  Wes held out his hand to me.  "It's in the fight that you prove your worth."
Tristan chooses to let go of his vengeance for a chance at a future with Lisa no matter the consequences.  As everything boils to a head and revelations are made I have to admit I didn't see it coming but at the same time I did .

Rachel Van Dyken has such a talent and everything that I have ever read from her is been gold.  From the hilarious banter in the Bet series to the mafia world of the Eagle Elite to the heartfelt beauty of the Ruin Series she has captured my heart.  I did like this book a lot but I will admit out of the series this was my least favorite but it is truly hard to compete with Wes Michaels, let's be honest. :)

4 We all have darkness thumbs up!!!
