Off the Record (Record #1)
Liz Dougherty has no idea a single question is about to change her life.
Her first big reporting assignment for her North Carolina college newspaper has her covering a state senator’s impromptu press conference. Brady Maxwell may have everything it takes to be a politician—a winning pedigree, devastating good looks, a body made to wear suits—but his politics rub Liz the wrong way. When Liz’s hard-hitting question catches the upstart senator off-guard, it impresses Hayden Lane, Liz’s editor who feels she’s headed for a promising career as a reporter.
But Liz is also headed into a secret romance with Brady that could destroy both their ambitions. Though he’s a bachelor, potential voters might frown on Brady cozying up to a reporter. And Liz isn’t sure sneaking around is enough for her—especially when things between her and Hayden might be less platonic than she thought.
Sleek, sexy, and smart, Off the Record ventures into a high-stakes campaign and an even higher-stakes affair to answer the question: When politics and love collide, can there ever be a winner?

My Review...
Oh! Boy! So this book had politics, drama, secret love affair, jealousy, friends, confusion, love and a .....cliff hanger.
Liz
has had a crush on Hayden for ever and it finally feels like it is
going somewhere until Hayden and Liz get the chance to interview Brady
Maxwell which changes the course for everyone.
Brady knows what he wants and nothing is going to get in his way until....one college reporter who blows his world apart.
Knowing
that it is wrong but they both can't fight it Liz and Brady start a
secret love affair.. Things are great until Liz wants more and Brady
wants to win at the cost of everything.
The
more Liz gets swallowed whole by Brady and this secret affair she turns
to Hayden which confuses her yet also cements her emotions for Brady.
Brady wants both Liz and the campaign but it looks like he may have to
choose. My fingers are crossed that he picks Liz over the campaign and
his bitch of a press secretary.
This
book was fantastic. It had my reeled in with everything and K.A. Linde
is great with the build up of secrets and tension. There are so many
variables to still unfold in this journey. I know there may be some
team Hayden people out there but let me tell you that I am team Brady
all the way.
August 26 is not soon enough to find out what is going to happen with Brady and Liz.
4.5 Can't Wait for Book 2 Thumbs up!

My On the Record Review ...
It felt like forever after the bit of a
cliffhanger in Off the record. On the record basically starts up after
Liz walked away from Brady. I was hoping for much less anxiety when
reading this book as it was killing me with the repeatedly bad choices Liz
and Brady were making. Gah! Hayden why? Sure he looks good on paper
and appears to be perfect but not enough spark. As Liz tries to let go
of Brady giving him the campaign so he doesn't have to make a decision
but really she was trying to save herself because she couldn't bare to
hear him chose the campaign over her so she made the choice for him.
Hayden has always been there but when she
finally made the choice to be with him, it killed me. KILLED ME. It was well
written as I was full of anxiety of repulsion during this part of the
book which was most of it, but then Hayden didn't turn out as
perfect as she wanted him to be. It's always hard for me to read when I
want the main hero and heroine together and they are with other people
when they shouldn't be, but without that were would be the angst?
Even
though it as been a year. A YEAR!!! Brady and Liz still have palpable
energy but have made their choices, so they try to stay away from one another
but when their past is thrown into their faces Liz finally gets off her
complacent ass and talks to Brady even after her more bad choices.
Brady
is the more mature of the two by breaking up with his girlfriend when
he realized that he still loved Liz where as Liz stayed with Hayden. She is still with Hayden until he royally screwed up even though she always loved Brady more.
Now finally at the end we get to see our favorite power couple back on track or do we????
4 About Damn Time Thumbs up!

My For the Record Review ...
So,
finally Brady bucks up and puts Liz first while Liz finally gets her
head out of her ass and they come public with their relationship.
In
this book, it really is like a long epilogue with there happy happy
with a little anxiety mixed in on the outside perception of their
relationship.
I did like it and read it fast but I felt
book 2 & 3 were dragged out too much and could have been condensed
into one book instead of 2.
In For the Record we fall
for Brady and all his charming ways while Liz still has some growing up
to do. And at the same time they deal with her nemesis Calleigh Hollingsworth with the
help of her ex Hayden. At times this book ended up been too neat and
tidy with how it all wrapped up but it was still good.
Here
is one beef I have though in book 2 condoms were mentioned at the
beginning with Hayden then they miraculously disappeared and were never
heard of again. I know that is a small detail and I don't know why it
irks me but it does especially since she had stopped sleeping with Hayden for like five minutes before jumping back into Brady's bed.
In the end I really enjoyed the series and am becoming a fan of K.A. Linde. Off the Record was my favorite then the angst filled On the Record with For The Record coming up the rear for me in preference for this series.
3.5 Finally their HEA thumbs up!
