In Your Eyes (Mates #3)

by

Raised to become Alpha of the Yafenack pack, Samuel Goodwin dedicates his life to studying shifter laws, strengthening his body, and learning from his father. Taking control comes easily to Samuel, but relating to people, including those he's supposed to lead, is a constant challenge.

When Samuel meets Korban Keller, the son of a neighboring pack’s Alpha, he reacts with emotion instead of intellect for the first time in his life. Resenting the other shifter for putting him off-balance, Samuel first tries to intimidate Korban and then tries to avoid him. What he can’t do is forget Korban’s warm eyes, easy smile, and happy personality.

When a battle between their fathers results in tragedy, Samuel and Korban are thrown together. With his world crashing down around him, Samuel must save his pack and show them he can lead. But first, Korban needs to save Samuel by inspiring him to feel. Two very different men with a tumultuous history must overcome challenges from all sides and see past the rules they’ve been taught to realize they are destined to fit together.

My In Your Eyes Review ...

Oh Boy I adored this book especially Samuel.  At first his booksmart ways were getting in my way of liking him and then they turned to be one of his biggest assets and likeable qualities. Samuel was raised to become the next Alpha of his pack.   He took to this responsibilty like a dog takes to water but the one thing Samuel lacks is his social interaction with others.

Korban is the neighboring packs next in line Alpha with a uber personality but has a douche bag dad/alpha.  Korban doesn't care about the responsibility of being the next alpha.

Even from kids Samuel doesn't trust Korban because he is always smiling and trying to be friendly with him.  He thinks he is only being nice to him to learn things about their pack.  However, once they chum together in and out of being a wolf,  Samuel learns to be at peace and enjoy being with Korban even though he doesn't trust him.

As the years go on Samuel still can't figure out decipher why he feels different when he is around Korban but he also can't really gel with anyone as friends or lovers.  The more he doesn't find a lover though to 'tie with' the more he loses his ability to shift at ease. Then tragedy strikes and due to his non shifting it causes a rift in his pack.
"Tying isn't about males and females.  It's about connecting with someone who can better you, someone who can give you what you're lacking, someone who can fulfill you and make you whole."
After this tragedy Samuel wants retribution but only the problem is he has to face Korbin and for some reason he can't bring himself to hurt him.
"We tie with our mates on all levels-physical and emotional- so we can become the best versions of ourselves.  That's what makes us complete, and then we're stable enough to bind both our forms-wolf and human."
After this realization Samuel is forced to deal with his feelings and takes what he needs from Korbin only to find out that he really didn't take but it was freely given.

I really did enjoy this book and I will definitely be reading more from this author and this series.
