Synopsis:
Dr. Emory Charbonneau, a pediatrician and marathon runner, disappears
on a mountain road in North Carolina. By the time her husband Jeff,
miffed over a recent argument, reports her missing, the trail has grown
cold. Literally. Fog and ice encapsulate the mountainous wilderness and
paralyze the search for her.
While police suspect Jeff of “instant divorce,” Emory, suffering from an unexplained head injury, regains consciousness and finds herself the captive of a man whose violent past is so dark that he won’t even tell her his name. She’s determined to escape him, and willing to take any risks necessary to survive.
Unexpectedly, however, the two have a dangerous encounter with people who adhere to a code of justice all their own. At the center of the dispute is a desperate young woman whom Emory can’t turn her back on, even if it means breaking the law.
As her husband’s deception is revealed, and the FBI closes in on her captor, Emory begins to wonder if the man with no name is, in fact, her rescuer.

My Mean Streak Review...
Oh Boy! What a ride this book was!!! There are so many different elements to this story that make it suspenseful and unpredictable. As you are reading it, you're trying to put the pieces together but then you get another twist or turn proving that you were wrong once again
The writing was amazing! The story was great! The who dunnit was fantastic!
"I've got the pistol handy.""That' supposed to make me feel better?""What should make you feel better is that I won't hesitate to use it."
When there is so much suspense and who dunnit, it's hard to review without giving away any spoilers. Books like this need to be experienced not spoiled. Just know that there is tons of suspense and when you think you got a grasp on what is going on, you will be surprised that you don't.
"No, justify your actions to yourself, Hayes. Because I think that's what you're running from."
I loved everything about this book the only thing that was a bit meh for me was the love connection happened a bit to quick for me. I'm all for a connection and possibilities but full fledge love felt a bit out of nowhere. Other than that, it was amazing. It covered the whole gamut of emotions that I couldn't put it down. This is a definite recommendation of a book to read and experience.
4.5 Suspenseful Thumbs up!

This sounds like a really fun read and right up my alley, too! I love suspense in general and this one sounds like it has a lot of great twists, and just the right amount of romance for me! Great review, Lauren!
